I have a 2012 FJR with 7100 miles and have gone through 2 front tires so far. The left side is just about bald while the right side is in good condition at least 75 %. Has anyone had this problem and if so what was the cause and cure. The service manger at Scott Powersports in Cooperburg Pa. where I bought the bike told me it was due to the curvature of the road. We all know that is not true.

Stan,

Sounds like you need to turn right more.

I had the bt 021,was very good and smooth for me for awhile, but after about 3000k miles it started to wobble. It wasn't from bad balancing but the tyre itself was crap.

Replaced from the 023GT and Wow!What a great smooth tyre it is!!Perfect for me!

I still have the bt 021 rear where it is very good!

If you're getting 3500 miles out of an 021 front you're doing good.

Time to move up to a better tire.

023-GT has been working really well for me. I'll try T-30 GT next.

I got 3395 miles out of my oem front BT21 to the wear bars, the last 1000 miles of it's life it sucked. One side did wear faster than the other... the tire wore to a trapezoidal shape and handled exactly as you would expect a trapezoid to handle...bad.

I now have BT23GTs on and @ 5552 miles (2257 miles on the front tire) it looks barely worn and is a pleasure to ride on.

Oh, and mama Yama changed the oem tires to BT023's (not GT) on the 2014 model. I got 7,500 miles on the rear and am at the wear bars - wheel is dismounted ready to take into a local dealer to change to a 023GT. The stock front still looks like it has about 2,000 miles to go although it has a little cupping but not too bad. I figure I'll try the GT's now since I got them online really cheap and I liked the OEMs.

Hard to believe this one still pops up, it's been discussed so often before.

The BT-021 is garbage. Junk. Horrible. They seldom last over 3K miles and they are garbage for the last half of their life. If your dealer does not know this already...

The majority of FJR peeps like the Bridgestone 023GT or the Michelin PR2s and PR3s. There are plenty of good tires out there to choose from, the 021 is definitely not one of them.

Everyone is telling you about their tires, when your question was about why the left side of the tire is wearing out first.

They all do that in countries that drive on the right side of the road. Clicky

I usually wear the left side out 1st, though not as bad as 75%. Road crown could be the culprit, and sum ride more aggressively on left handers. (If'n I bail, I'd rather just slide off the road than under on coming traffic.)

The T30's (new) are yet to be proven....
Not really...I have a set with less than 3,000 miles on them...Great traction, the front looks good... BUT the rear is almost to the wear bars.
Got about 2,500 on my T30s, and they look like new. Ya might wanta ease up w/ the right hand?
