Flesher Pass is one of the Continental Divide passes and a nice twisty ride. We live about ten miles from the base of the eastern slope of the pass. We rode it yesterday on our way to Lincoln, but I think that will be the last time for awhile. For more see this...

Tater Tots??!

I thought you were talking about Harleys for a minute.

Plan C:

NC greasy, slimy, deep fried tater wedges. About 35 mins. <-- that way. Best in the state!!

We've had a few of those tip-overs locally too. It's getting hard to avoid all of them.

I like that little Flesher Pass road. It's kind of out of the way and I forget about it.

As our friend Cole said on page 444 of his Motorcycling Montana book, "Flesher Pass, one of the best. This section is made for low-gear, high-RPM running with the tires on the edges of their contact patches".

I miss Cole and love the book.

And now back to your regular scheduled program.

Riding north out of Portland a few years ago, right where the Colombia River separates OR from WA, there's a very long (maybe a mile) bridge with a very steep entry ramp. Seems like there's construction on the bridge most times I go that way. So this time, we came to the steepest part of the ramp and had to stop for the flagman. I don't know if it was the smell or what, but something made me look down. Somebody had been transporting a load of fish guts and heads and all the crap they throw away after the cleaning's done. Maybe somebody buys it for cat food or something. But a barrel of it must have gone over the tailgate and we were stopped in the middle of a big pool of that stinky, slippery shit.

But at least there wasn't 30,000 pounds of it.
