In the process of installing a G2 throttle tamer, I managed to damage the OEM heated throttle grip. The grips are part# ABA-2D237-40-00. Rather than spend $350 for a new kit, I wonder if I could splice in a set of symtec heaters. I would like the symtec so I can use my own grips rather than the grips that come with the kit. Any ideas or does someone happen to have a OEM heated throttle grip that they somehow don't need anymore?

I did the same when installing my G2 also. Spliced in a set of Hotgrips. Work just fine.

Still have the left one undamaged in case anyone wants it.

I personally don't like my OEM heated grips, too hard and small in diameter. If they break, I'll replace them with the larger Hot Grips (not the cheaper kit, which is also small). Had those in the past and loved them. OR you could use Symtec's and better grips.

Agree about the OEM grips being too hard and small. A set of Buddies or other foam type 'over grips' did it for me and the heat still comes through fine.

I just replaced mine. I got the 80.00 kit from cycle gear. It came with a new controller and 2 grips made to what appears to be OEM quality. Working Great.

That is the same grip kit sold through the Service Parts Catalog, the give-away is the red LED power indicator. The last time I checked a kit they were 4 Ω (each) grips and the power controller pulses power instead of Pulse Width Modulation. Because the heat is limited by the high resistance, the grips never got close to being hot enough for more northern climates. The power controller works but it is not elegant and may introduce audio noise in any sound system; IMO & FWIW, it pounds the **** out of the electrical system. I did notice that you can find this kit on sale for just under $40 right now.

For almost the same price I would highly recommend Oxford Heated Grips.
