Okay, no one else seems to want to post pictures, so.....
A few hardy souls met on thisbrisk invigorating Saturday morning (welllll, 50 degrees.....).
We met in West Sacramento then journeyed through downtown Sacramento heading down Capital Mall toward our state capital building.
We turned South on Freeport Blvd. and passed Sacramento City College. The "Student Book Exchange" is on the left.
Once we cleared the metropolitan area we started along the river and rode through the thriving town of Freeport.
The roadway rises up on the levee and then drops down through the lowland farms. Here riding through miles of Pear trees near the town of Hood.
We popped back on the levee and came to the busy town of Courtland (Courtland Market on the left).
Farther South on the levee and I saw this hawk hunting over the shore. Luckily I caught the bird in this photo.
There's some interesting "traffic" on this road. Notice Old Michael's turn signal as he passes!
Greater Walnut Grove.
James Burleigh rode over from Concord to join us for the late morning repast.
Great timing as he arrived minutes after we did.
The bikes on the right are (from the farthest) Rogdebs, Bokerforks, Hycles, Old Michael's headlamp and my top case in the lower right corner.
After lunch we headed East across the valley to Clements so we could visit one of our semi-favorite stores: Chocoholics. I was in the lead so I trust others got some pictures as we traveled through the farmland.
At Chocoholics there was a large group who had been on a school field trip to the fish hatchery and they'd been told they HAD to stop at Chocoholics (who are NOT prepared to deal with a large crowd). Here I am, in line, waiting...and waiting...and waaaaiiiittttiiiinnng. I mean, like, 20-30 minutes. OM and Hycle had time to devour their ice cream cones and then heckle me in my impatience!
Yes, Barb, I'm buying different flavors of chocolate sauce AND raspberry truffles. Mmm-Mmm-good!
We left Clements and continued East for a few miles then turned North toward Ione. Every time I pass a herd of cattle I remember Andrew (OrangevaleFJR) saying, "Be careful, I have cows!"
This is beautiful downtown Ione.
Now maybe Hycle, Rogdeb, Bokerfork and Old Michael will post some of their photographic contributions.
