Fencer
Why yes, I am a Smart ASS
I skipped work today and rode Barber (Everyone eat you heart out )
Buell had a sponsored track day that you could test ride their bikes on the track. All were avail to ride except the Ulysses.
I rode the lightening 1200r (I think - it was the sport version) and the new 1125R
The lightening was un-impressive IMO. I was hit'n the rev limiter(3rd and 4th gear) comming down the front straight and was passed by a 500cc motard. It would be OK for a street bike but its sure not for the track. It was overall an ok bike. the V twin reminded me of a 1000 DL that I rode. One guy said I rode it wrong to get passed. he said the motor should be "short-shifted" since the torque is down low and not in the high range of the Jap bikes. I Dunno
The 1125R was Nice. It could be better if it were mine...
The throttle response was slow, but the cable was not adjusted to my liking, and the brakes were "grabby". The first time I hit them on Charlets Web, I got an "Oh ****!".
They were full on and the front dove like a ton of bricks. It could be a very fun street bike, but I don't think it would make it as a competitive track bike.
I only got a few laps on the 1125R due to a red flag and a seriously injured rider. He went down and was run over by a fellow rider. The Helo carried him away...
No reports were given about his condition.
My day was better than his for sure
If Buell comes close to you, go do the day, it was fun!!
Subsidized track cost
Free T-shirt, knee pucks, food and drink andtrash ride someone else's bike.
I
I rode my Gixxer the rest of the time , but it started to have mechanical issues and I pulled it in halfway through the next to last session. I took it to a mechanic who is going to check it out, and from my description of it cutting out at full throttle on the back stretch, he said it could be a bad power commander, or loose wire. It'll only cost me money to fix it, whatever it is
