I assume you can take some of the minor scratches out of your windshield...what do you use?

Thanks,

Ron

I've had great luck with Novus plastic polish, which I think I picked up at a local Novus windshield place.

Looks like this:

Also like the stuff CeeBailey's sent with the windshield.

Also noticed in Target today that McGuires has some kind of scratch remover that's safe for clear coat.

FJRJeff,

Do you need a buffer or will hand rubbing do it?

You might also try the Meguieres plastic scratch out. Then follow up w/ Plexus. Don't go w/ the polisher right off the bat. The hand application gives better control. Exercise patience and it should come out well.

Thanks,

Will try that

Novus makes several different "grits" for their polish, so depending upon the scratch, you may need to work your way through, but I've never used a buffer. Always hand, with a clean, cotton rag/towel.

I had some nasty scratches on my shield. When we moved, I was taking it out of the moving truck and dropped it, and it scraped the shield up pretty bad. I got almost the entire mess out, and it was gouged pretty bad. Luckily not directly in my line of sight....

Not sure if we're talking windshields in general here or the 06. I love this bike, but the one main gripe I have so far is that the windshield is incredibly soft. I managed to get a scar inside the windshield somehow, it's not on either side, but inside and about 3 inches long. Very bizarre. As I was examining that, I ran my finger across it ever so slightly with my fingernail side down - left a perpendicular scratch. Unbelievable. It just furthered my need to invest in one of those VStreams.

Thanks for the Garauld link....some very good stuff in there about windshield scratches! A big help...thanks again all.

I have the memory of a goldfish twn (3 seconds) you know.... like your having ***.....(insert laughter here) (that original enough for you...)
Pffft! That makes two of you laughing... you and Mrs. Nut. And no, keep trying - playing off of a Burns & Allen routine doesn't count. ;)

I still have hope, though.

Oh come on Barney, he's making progress... that one was pretty good.

All kinds of kits available for repairing aircraft windshields. Depends on how much time, trouble and expense you want to get into.

You think these windshields are soft, you should see how flimsey some aircraft plexi scratches and flexes.

I had a ******* pump jockey drag a fuel nozzle across my shield and put a 3 inch gouge in the windscreen on my Decathlon. Took me about 2 hours to sand and polish it out. Now you can't tell it was even there, except for the slight distortion due to the depth and size of the repair.

Aircraft Spruce windshield restoration products.

I think I'm going to get the V-stream for my '06 as soon as it comes available. Maybe that coated Lexan will be better than the other plexi aftermarked shields. It sure was nice on my Harleys.
