So I sold my bike and am officially looking for an FJR. I have a budget of about $8,000, farkles, necessities and all.

I found this deal near me: https://bend.craigslist.org/mcy/5036444727.html

First off, is the asking price fair?

Regardless of the asking price, do I need to replace the suspension? That seems to be a popular upgrade.

Right away I'm going to add more lighting down below the fairing for that 3-light locomotive look. Also some modulating brake lights.

I'd like to add a matching top case as well.

If you had eight grand to buy and setup an FJR, what would you be looking for?

Nice looking '09 in Bend. With all the adds, very fair price if the bike is in the condition it appears to be in. With $8k to spend, be patient and you'll be able to find a very nice low mile '09 to '10.

Good luck with the search, you won't be disappointed!

However one of our own has this 09 for sale in Seattle.
My '09 is already gone Bug, sent it to a new home on Friday.

Edit...guess I better add sold to my '09 advertisement!

Does that mean I lose my commission George?

Price seems decent if the condition is good.

I would want to know whether maintenance was up to date - i.e. first valve check done?

Recalls done?

Do they have maintenance history? Fluid changes etc.?

Corbin seat - you will like it or not!

Those tires are about done so you will be looking for replacements sooner rater than later.

It appears they have done the front suspension. At 30,000+ miles, the rear shock is getting a little tired. You may wish to consider replacement, especially if you like to twist it in the twisties, but you could probably manage for a year or two.

If it checks out OK, you could do worse. It would be helpful if you could find someone local who knows FJRs to have a look at it for you.

I would buy a bike first, then decide whether it needed upgraded seat, suspension, lights, etc. etc. Who knows, maybe you'll be happy with the fitments that come on it.

For that money you can probably find a 2009 with less mileage (not that 32K is high), but probably not with all of those additions. That bike is coming with a lot of upgrades. Like people have said, maybe some of those upgrades you wouldn't have bothered with.

Up to you whether those things are things you need. I've never felt the need for suspension work outside of stock, but I'm not a lean it all the way over guy either.

Good luck.

Do a fly N ride. Here is a new/used FJR for you.

Me gotts to agree with the Corbin as being rock hard, BUT, the ones who have them say they really likey them!

Your close to a Gen-3 2013 price range w some miles. I would lean that way.

I'm surprised that bike hasn't sold yet. I emailed him months ago to try to buy the RDL from him if the bike sold without it. Back then he had a price with farkles and price without farkles.

Me? I'm not a pilot LOL. I am up in Puyallup, WA south of Seattle. I thought the price was a bit on the high side, and since the bike hasn't sold, I must not be the only one. I bought my 2008 in January with a nice set of farkles and 68K miles for $5500 locally.

That '08 is a forum bike, there's an advertisement for it here from a while back...you'll have to dig through a couple pages. Forum etiquette says we don't beat up pricing on here so I'll leave it at that. Check NADA and KBB plus other ads and determine what the bike is really worth. Farkles are nice, but add less than $.50 on the dollar to the bike. Don't pay too much just because of the goodies.

Just my $.02
