Did not mean to ShangHai your thread, but it is a unique law in VT that is the equivalent to lane splitting in CA, except that VT doesn't have too many multiple lane highways (it only has 2 interstate highways in the whole state) or much traffic to speak of. The law is intended to relieve congestion behind slow moving farm implements that frequently use the same roads that travelers use. But is also widely used to pass slow moving 60's dropout stoners, who also make up a good percentage of the state's population.You can cross a double yellow in VT, huh? Legally, I mean?Cool.
The other thing that is similar with these two laws is that a good percentage of the population is unaware they exist, and (especially out-of-stater tourists) often get upset when the get passed on a double yellow, as I imagine also happens when they get lane-spiltted (is that the right term) in traffic in Cali.
