I was just posting this link, but saw yours when going to 'off topic'.

Crazy shazitts. NBC news worded it as "Car driver seems to shows no concern".

Unbelievable! I had a car try to do that once. Just don't understand what goes through peoples heads.

Pickup truck in SE Ohio tried to kill me one year. Damn near did too. He was upset that his smoke blowing dually diesel got passed.

I was present at a road 'incident' where a car driver was being an ***, was observed by a LEO and he got pulled over for it. The motorcycles involved with this dip all stopped behind the cop car to see what was going to happen. As I pulled off my helmet I could hear the cop shouting at the driver, "IT IS MY JOB TO CONTROL THE TRAFFIC NOT YOURS!" That was followed by a lecture about being a good citizen on the roadways. I dunno if it did any good for the driver but it sure warmed my heart to hear.

What a piece of sh*t that guy is. I'm just surprised he stopped afterward. He probably wouldn't have stopped if those other cars weren't around to witness it. His punishment should be the sum total of the injuries that those two people suffered, administered by the victims. Then, while he's laying there screaming in pain, they can just tell him "I don't care".

That being said, it may be a tough case to try if it went to criminal court. The guy was passing on a double yellow, and probably exceeding the speed limit by a fairly big margin. (Before you fire back at me, I do it all the time when I feel safe doing it. I'm not throwing stones at the victim, I'm just pointing out that a judge may look at the video, look at his traffic rule book, and throw it out of court. Civil court may reach the same conclusion, even though the perpetrator acted with total disregard for human life. Too bad the victims are probably hosed. And they better not show that video to their insurance company to try to get a claim, either.)

I believe in karma, to some degree. That piece of sh*t will probably get what's coming to him someday. At least I hope so. He deserves it.

I saw a similar incident on Hwy 16 in Arkansas. The rider was a Houston, Texas, police officer with two young children -- damn nice guy. He went to pass a pickup on a double yellow, and the pickup put him completely to the left shoulder. It was scary how near she came to seriously hurting or even killing him.

What an ******. His only comment, "I don't care." We had some of those at EOM...usually guys in trucks - probably trying to over compensate - who would cross the line(s) or spread up as we passed.

That kind of stupidness is not foreseeable. Sure makes me ponder about my passing in a no passing zone like the cyclists. The rider could likely get a ticket for illegal passing. The driver should get an improper lane usage at the least. Not nearly enough in any case. But we have vigilantes out there policing our roads.

Acts like he's been drinking. Probably thought he'd prevent the pass by pulling out a ways, forcing the bike in behind him, but went too far. Then justifies it with "I don't care." Straight or drunk, dipshit move to make. Let's see where this goes in the court system, if at all.

Wow, flat scary out there sometimes. What goes through these people's heads? My guess is nothing but wind because there seems to be nothing air between those ears to stop it. It seems by that ole boy's reaction that he's got nothing in life to care about, except some pesky biker.

Just from that short video, I say, intoxicated old guy. That's why his only response was, "I don't care." His mind was racing with what he just did, and he's looking for a way to get out of trouble, but he was too drunk to process all that at once, so the only rationalization he could conjure was, "I don't care." Hell, maybe he's not intoxicated and just losing his mind, but his stance, fact that he stopped, mannerisms, and lack of vocabulary point to drunk. Of course, that's with 10 seconds or so of evaluation tine, so I could be full of it.

Looks to me like he hit the bike, which makes that Aggravated Battery With A Deadly Weapon. A 2nd degree Felony in NM. Both criminal court and civil court would have a field day with that guy. A rider violating a traffic statute does not permit someone to try to kill them. BTW, attempted murder would never fly. Don't know why, but I've had cases even more heinous than that where they wouldn't go with attempted homicide. Besides, that would be a second degree felony also, so the Agg Batt DW has the same consequences attached.

IF he didn't hit that guy, it would be Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon. 3rd degree felony here, and again, the rider's actions would have a little air time in court, but aren't nearly egregious enough for that kind of response. If that guy's insurance company is smart, they'll pay out fast and get rid of that case.

Dang!!

Aggravated Battery w/deadly weapon works for me. Just hope they actually charge the guy... This event is up on facebook and I've been reading people saying crap like "that biker got what he deserved"... just amazing how incredibly vicious and uncaring people can be.

Do they think the passenger got what she deserved too?

Yeah, really. You must be some special kind of stupid to think vehicular assault is an appropriate response to being passed in a no-passing zone.
