Can we use this oil?

So, if we start getting oil from the tar sands in Canada, how much more mercury, sulfur dioxide, extra particulates, and etc. can we allow the oil companies to dump in our rivers and lakes? How does NAFTA fit into this? Would we be better off drilling more in Alaska?

And most important, can I run this stuff in my FJR?
