The "Eyes Right" command is the biggest complement troops on parade

can pay and is reserved for dignitaries in reviewing stands.

A lone young Belgian boy is waiting to salute the Canadian troops passing

by who had been attending a memorial service.

Such class from the Canadian troops - watch what they do for this little boy...

As a Canadian, that brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for sharing it!
Especially poignant when you know the history of Canadian troops and the Dutch during WWII.
Definitely +1 from this Canuck

That's just very, very fine. It's a bit of a choker-upper when you consider how far back this history goes and the reasons behind it.

Thanks for posting this, Happy!

I have to echo the sentiments of everybody here. I suspect if thats from the 50th anniversary of the Dutch liberation in Holland, my ex's brother was marching in that. He was one of the soldiers chosen to represent Canada for the celebration.

Quite the deal that was. Approx. 25 miles per day marches for, I believe 10 days straight. I'll forward him this vid and find out for sure.

Actually, I'm going by memory, and I think the actuals were MORE than that.

He's (my ex's bro) is HUGE into running, bicycling etc and is in VERY good shape. He was ragged pretty bad by the time he got back. Said it was a real experience of a lifetime - the Dutch have never forgotten to this day.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T... Who says young people no longer posess it? :hi:

Hats off to a great post!

Army 1st Infantry Div. stationed in Germany for years, I knew US WWII history. Interesting read, Canada liberating Holland.
Big Red One, eh?

<jack>Ever heard of Cantigny 1st Div. (Big Red One) Museum in Wheaton...of all places...On Col. McCormick's old estate. Col McCormick was the owner of the Chicago Tribune for many years...and was an officer during the battle of Cantigny in WW1...named his estate Cantigny.

There are tanks and exhibits from WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the middle east wars. Used to play on the tanks as a kid during Sunday afternoon picnics on the beautiful grounds of the McCormick estate. <jack>

https://www.1id.army.mil/ wheatonFJR: I'll definitely visit this museum when I am near Chicago, which should be next June.

I am so glad that Greg M. did not witness me just a few minutes ago, I went to my closet and pulled out my fatigue jacket, with the Red 1 on green background patch on it. I have gotten so fat in the last thirty-five years I couldn't even snap it up!!!

Used to have a body like a GREEK GOD; now I've a body like a goddamned Greek! Sorry about a <jack> from CAN Army!
