Oregon State Trooper Sean Swisher has had a banner week. He has written three tickets for vehicles traveling in excess of 100 mph. Two were motorcycles.

His latest catch, 27-year old Jake B. Barnes was riding a 2003 Suzuki SV1000 motorcycle. Swisher was able to pace Barnes at speeds in excess of 125 mph.

While trailing the motorcycle in his unmarked Chevrolet Camaro, Swisher observed Barnes using all three lanes to pass other traffic, in addition to going between vehicles in traffic. Barnes was taken to Marion County jail, booked, cited and released with a promise to appear at an upcoming court date.

He was probably passing a bunch of jerks that felt they had no need to move over when faster traffic was approaching. These are the people the police should be citing.

I love people in the HOV or fast lane going slower than the lane to their right and they never move over.

Like the Prius owners !
I get them all here in Maryland. Then they wonder why I am weaving in and out of traffic. Texas has the right idea. If you are not passing in the far left lane you get a ticket.

Huge Excursions, old people, in the HOV I love it when 2 people are in the HOV just because they can be yet they are going slower than the far right lane. WHY???

The Prii owners (aka, Poser Tree Huggers) round these parts go faster than most... Must be rationalizing the fuel savings for extra speed or sumpin'. :dntknw:

Too bad they don't enforce it. I've never heard of anyone or seen anyone get pulled over for this. And the signs are totally ignored. How someone can drive around and be that clueless is just beyond me. Completely rude. I do ALOT of driving and this is the single biggest thing that pisses me off on a daily basis. :threaten:

I did say idea :D

Here I often pass someone right at the "Slower traffic keep right" sign and then point at it. Clueless and they just don't care. They are in their own world and never thinking of anyone else.

I wasn't taught this but it was always in me that I could be in someones way or that someone couldn't get by me in the store or whatever. It really bothers me when others just never look for other people like they are better than everyone else...

I'm convinced that a significant number of people cited for "aggressive driving" were popped because they were following to close to somebody squatting in the left lane.

Not that following too closely should be allowed, but it's the symptom--not the cause. It's on the books of all states I know as illegal--often the same fine as a speeding ticket. But, it's not enforced like it should be nor taught as an important point in traffic educations classes.

I am also convinced that some of the road rage incidents are folks that went off the deep end because some putz was squatting in the left lane oblivious to the world. I've seen them interviewed and even heard one saying, "I was driving in the left lane minding my own business right next to a person on my right and this car started flashing their lights. Then they rammed me for no reason."

Treat the problem first and the symptom will go away.

Here I see cops do exactly that. They will come right up on someone in the fast lane and many times even then the person won't get over for some time.

To me they are both in the wrong but if the person was oblivious to the cop in their rear view mirror they couldn't have been paying attention.

Sweeping our mirrors continuously is how we should be driving. These morons amaze me.

Trucks drivers call cagers TV watchers because they never move their head or eyes until they need to move.

OMG! I have done that too!! That's so awesome.

Yeah my horn gets a good workout. I used to be nice about it - part of that minnesota nice in me - but then I started wondering why i have to be nice when they aren't. I'm no ruder for honking or flashing my lights than they are for being inconsiderate and holding me up. My other favorite is when someone just has to turn in right in front of me, when there is tons of room behind me. If they would just wait 2 more seconds, I'd be out of their way. Then I have to slow down just for them. Yeah, that one gets me going too. I drive with the firm belief that I don't have any right to hold anyone else up and neither do they.

Ignacio really hit it when he mentioned the person that was amazed the person hit their bumper.

I have spoken to so many people over the years because I drove a semi that just don't have any clue about many of the laws. Besides laws many don't have much common sense either. They think because a truck has air brakes they can stop faster  :dribble:

One didn't understand why you have to turn your lights on when it rains. Their comment was, "I can see why do I need to turn them on?" :dribble: Had to explain that it is so others can se you in their mirror not the other way around, it is not always about you :dribble:

Plus, many of us who ride bikes take most of this stuff much more serious. Think of how we were in high school to get our permit. We answered the questions but really didn't care much about it we just wanted our license. Since then I have had literally months of truck driving lessons, days of motorcycle lessons and continue to read.

Your average cager doesn't spend anytime learning more...

Snowmonkey: did I read your post correctly? Was the Trooper in an unmarked Camero towing a bike on a trailer---at 125 mph while he paced the bikes he caught?

Seems kind of dangerous to the rest of the people on the road, don't know of trailers being rated as safe for that kind of speed (could be wrong though) :D

No, he said trail-ing, as in following or tailing.
