Gents- I am considering canyon cages. A quick check of their site didn't reveal rear/bag protection. What do you recommend, and, for those that have rear protection installed, does it interfere with passenger foot/leg comfort? Thanks.

Bill - I'll try to shoot a photo of mine tonight for you. No interference (with the newer design) that angles back towards the saddlebag. The older design came straight down and looked to cause more interference. I'll try to post a photo tonight. The part number that metalman quoted above is the same as what I ordered. Jim

Bill - I installed these recently and I think they are fantastic, as well as look the part.....

I took some pics for ya, they are not the brightest... but I think you can gather some ideas of how they look on the bike.

My woman is smaller - and her feet have enough room for comfort as pillon....

Also FWIW - I searched and found some adjustable rear footpeg options on ebay for the FJR if you search for them

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=adjustable+rear+footpegs&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xadjustable+rear+footpegs+FJR1300&_nkw=adjustable+rear+footpegs+FJR1300&_sacat=0

lots of choices to add a bit of room if you need them...

Great info. Thanks all. Do the canyon cages interfere with oil filter removal (or anything else, for that matter)?

The Canyon Cages and the Side Case protectors work period.

The crash depicted below happened while my engine was dying and so the bike would stall unless I kept the RPMs up at over 2,700 (which too was not a constant) and hence required constant clutch manipulation when moving at anything less than normal pace. So when I was navigating over a steep and turning incline goat path and came past a wet patch which happened to have a film of oil like slippery mud the rear spun out just enough to lose traction and lend me on my ass... With anything like the usual frame sliders this crash would have resulted in '000s of dollars in damaged Tupperware, likely bent front frame stay, broken screen, headlight & mirrors, broken Baja HID light, etc, etc.

As you can see from the pics, despite the severe angle of the fall and height the bike landed from due to the incline of the road the only damage was some light scratches to the mirror and minor scrapes on the Canyon Cages.

I inserted a credit card type plastic spacer between the hwy peg and the faring to keep it from scratching the faring paint. The hwy peg got rotated and was close to the faring, but did not damage the fairing or the paint...

So as far as I'm concerned, screw the passenger comfort, these crash guards work period, if the passenger doesn't like them, she can go find another bike to ride bitch on

Those pictures answered the question I have had for awhile about real world experience with the Canyon Cages. Well worth the cost.

I have a complete set installed on my 2015ES. MCs latest version has been redesigned and allows the retraction of the passenger pegs. In it's extended position IMHO there is ample room for the passenger.
