Doing some long overdue maintenance on my '90 Polaris ATV and need something truly toxic to clean out the gummy **** in the carb. What are my best options?
Are you taking it apart or cleaning in place?

I've had good luck just running pure carb cleaner (like Seafoam) straight into a carb while running a vehicle at partial throttle until it stumbles badly or dies and let it sit a while (like over night). This can done through an empty gas tank or via funnel into the fuel line. Make sure battery is well charged once you reconnect good fuel and try to start the vehicle because it'll take a while to start with pure cleaner in the carb. Doesn't always work, but worth a try with minimal expense or time expended. Other options include draining float bowl first to get junk out and to allow room for carb cleaner to run into on a non running engine.

For carb overhauls, I use a gallon can of carb cleaner like Berryman's available at the local auto parts store (or at least used to - maybe they don't sell the good stuff anymore due to environmental regulations?).
