That pic was from yesterday. Pop spent his day sitting in the sun. He asked me to let all of you know how much he appreciated the cards, the gifts, the thoughts, the prayers, the positive energy and the good wishes.

I appreciate all of you even more.

Mom tells me that he is not happy with what the pain meds do to his mind. He is using Tylenol and Aleve instead. I am about to go cut the dressing off his shoulder so he can shower completely.

He has a Long Road ahead of him.

I did not know if I should be happy or worried about the possessive look he was giving my '15 ES yesterday.

Looking good RFH! Happy to see him up and about. I wouldn't worry too much about him eyeing that '15, keeping bikes in the family is a good thing.....

Yeah those pain meds can mess with you in a lot different ways. I was surprised, after I got out of the hospital with a refillable prescription for Oxycodone, that none of my medical staff addressed when or how to stop using it. I did it on my own gradually for the same reason as your Pop.

As for the long road, he is here to travel it with the help of his family and friends. In those difficult times, have him take a moment to look back at where he was and how far he's come... in the day to day living, we forget the progress that one makes little by little. ;)

I'd like to thank you guys for posting the story. I had another thread about selecting a new summer jacket and after seeing his injuries (ribs), it helped me pick my new jacket. It's a Dainese with their Mantis back protector and pockets for the chest protectors. I think every time I put that jacket on with the back and chest protection, I'll think of him and the important lesson he taught me about protecting my ribs best I can. Hopefully I'll never have to use any of it but it was his story that made me pick gear capable of holding chest inserts (and I don't mean foam pads).

Another Update and also a Huge Thank You to all of you who sent a card to Pop. I appreciate everything more than words can say.

Pop is improving rapidly, he is walking around and trying to get back his stamina. His ribs have settled into a nuisance pain that he is dealing with in his own way. His shoulder has us concerned. It hurts and does not look right to us. We have an appointment with his doctor on Monday and an appointment with the shoulder surgeon on Tuesday.

Pop had decided that YFO was completely out of the question. Pop has now decided that he is setting YFO as a goal. We may not make it but at least he has something solid to work toward. Of course he wants to do it on an FJR...

These are from today and is the best way I know to let y'all know how Pop and I feel about all of you.

I actually tried to smile for this:

There are just too many of you to call out individually. Again, the things you folks wrote in the cards, the e-cards, the PMs, the things posted on both forums, these things Matter. They really Matter to Pop and I.

I am going to recognize one person in particular, mostly because I considered him to be a *******, but also because the First gift and card to arrive here came from him.
0face/Marty sent us this and we will never forget it. This little FJR had some tear drops on it from two grown men. Times like this should remind us how much Good is in this world and how much Good is in the power of these forums.

He looks so good like nothing happened!

Again, our very best wishes for a very fast recovery!

We believe that we will see him very soon on his new probably fjr...

I'm looking forward to meeting this guy. Heck, everybody out this way is.

Pops is doing Much Better. The empty spot in his shop has been filled.

G Squared, formerly of this forum, was kind enough to sell us this Red Rocket. It has been meticulously maintained, has 9500 miles, and was offered to us for less $$$ than any '14 we found for sale anywhere. It even has the Yamaha GYTR slip on exhaust.

I rode it home for him and have to say it is about as good as an FJR can get. He does not know it but the HeliBar Bridge is bought and on its way here. I gave him a brand new pair of Cortech Accelerator 3 gloves to replace the old Accelerators he scuffed up in his crash. All I need now is for him to heal.

And there was yet another card waiting for him when they brought me home this evening, thanks DeanG.

Congratulations!!

Did you retrieve the Laam seat from the '07? Don't know if the color would work with the red '14; seems to me it was a match for the Black Cherry. Does this one have an aftermarket shock?

I wrecked a bike more than 30 years ago, broke bones, had a cast on my leg for 3 months. I used to hobble out to the garage with my crutches and sit on the bike with my cast(s) on. People couldn't understand it at all. I suspect your Dad knows exactly what I was feeling then. Beautiful bike, can't wait to see him riding it.
