The three bolts that are behind the seat that you can add a rack, backrest or top box to. I have a back rest which I have taken on or off many times. Noticed that one of the bolts no longer tightens in. Upon examination I saw little metal peices that came out with the bolt. Took off the rear seat and it looks like the threads are stripped on the big cast piece. In the meantime I have put a new longer bolt in that went all the way thru and a put a nut on the bottom of that. Does not match the other two boltd, but holds. Any sugesstions on how to fix this. Should I tap new threads for it and put a new larger bolt. Should I do it for all three to match. Should I try to get three longer stainless steel bolts. These are tough to find that have threads all the way up. That cast piece is large and I really don't want to replace it. Poor design on Yamaha's part. appreciate any suggestions or a solution.

If you are not happy with the long bolt and nut that you have already installed, then you may want to try a time-sert or helicoil.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into the time-sert. Always a pleasure being on this forum and able to get some help and advice. Just wish to have all the same bolts.
