Any recommedations for lodging in the Catskills? Would like to find a nice little village to take my wife, in town location, park bike outside the room. Have been looking at Woodstock in particular.

Thanks, Eric.

The Cobblestone Inn in Phoenicia is about 15 miles West of Woodstock and is very cost effective, parking is out of view of the street traffic and the hamlet is very quaint. Sweet Sue's makes the best (and biggest) pancakes and they are right on Main Street a couple of blocks from the Inn. The ride on Route 212 from Woodstock to Phoenicia is one of my favorite local roads if you catch it when there isn't much traffic.

If you are looking for something classier, and spendier, the Red Roof Inn on Route 28 just outside of Phoenicia is reputed to be nice. They have a spa and indoor pool. There are lots of other places but those are the ones that come to mind.

Let me know when you are going to be in the area.

Gaps,

Take Geezer's advice. Woodstock is very busy place. Phoenicia and Sweet Sues are as good as it gets.

Hey Bill,

When are you planning to go?

I go up to Westford almost every week end to vistit my girlfriend. She has a nice little cabin up there. It's about 30 minutes from Oneonta off rt88. If you are going up there for just a few days of riding, let me know. We can hook up at some point and shoot up to Cooperstown, (Ostego Lake.) There are some realy nice roads up there. When I ride up I take rt.28 through Wookstock or rt 23 up around Windam.

Great roads as long as it's not too cold and icey.

My bike should be ready on Tues. (Ticker repair) and I'll be going up next week end.

Tim

OOPs,

The invite goes to GAPS and GEEZER too. And anyone else around that area.

Always looking for other riders to hook up with.

Tim

Thanks for the invitation. I live outside of Phoenicia and I often go over the mountain to Rt 23, follow that to Oneonta, and back home on Rt 28. I normally take that ride on a Sunday morning before the cagers and cruisers get out on the road. I have friends who have a camp on Otsego Lake so I am familiar with the Cooperstown area as well.

I am busy for the next month or so but I'd like to get together for a ride later in the season. Maybe we can organize a Catskills ramble and get a few FJRs together for a weekend in May or June.

Thanks for the info Geezer, Mr B, Tim...much obliged. I will steer clear of Woodstock and head for Phoenicia. Perhaps we could try to make a day of it this season, FJRs in the Catskills sounds nice, anyone care to lead the way?

Are you gents local to the Catskills, we are in the New Haven CT area.
