Disappointed that I couldn't make NAFO, I got a pass for CFO and a visit with my Sis in Auburn,WA. I met up with Nelz from Omaha in Niobara and we rode together across SD on US 18. Not a very challenging ride but some nice views across the plains, It's Worth the visit at least once. Oh yeah avoid the Arrowhead Café, didn't think it was possible to screw up eggs, but it is and they found the way.

Nelz and I made it to CFO without succumbing to food poisoning and things started looking up. Jackson put together a very nice gathering, great group of people.

Friday morning we made a trip up to Rapid City with Jackson so he could get a new rear tire(pilot powers on a FJR 2500 mile or less), Black Hills Power Sports, nice new shop and all the people I met there where very friendly and helpful.

The rest of the day we rode

That is one big chunk of rock.

It was getting late, we headed back to the hotel in Custer via Spearfish Canyon, if you think you've ridden the canyon believe me you haven't until you've done it in a pouring rain..........oh what fun.

Mostly all the time was devoted to riding, anyway you go in the Black Hills is a good ride, my best advice here is to go out and get lost, in any direction, you're going to have a fun ride. For instance the Boondock Café, not sure where it's at but it's there somewhere.

After CFO, I keep on heading west to Auburn, times short and sis is expecting me so it's slab time, but thats OK even I 90 though Western MT and ID can be fun in places.

After a day and a half of hard riding the weary traveler arrives at his former favorite sister's house where his deluxe accommodations await him.

Seems that sis has found a contractor who is between jobs to do a complete remodel for a very reasonable sum, but he has to do it now! So being her most kind, considerate, helpful, only brother, and she'll tell Mom if I don't(hey Mom's 84 but she still packs a punch) ,I chip in. Instead of touring the sound are sight seeing MT Rainer, not even riding Washington State great mountain twisters, I pick up some of the small jobs she didn't have the contractor do. Like hanging the kitchen cabinets, and yes those cabinets are level............the damn wall is crooked!

I got the cabinets up and it's time to head home, with one small detour. Oregon City, OR.

The two Daves completely replaced the stock suspension, rebuilt the front forks with their own special recipe, replaced the rear with the Penske shock and spring, this is soooooo much better. I left GP Suspensions at 2PM central time Thursday and was home at 5AM Saturday morning 39 Hours, including a 6 hour nap in a hotel, even took time off to ride the Snake River Canyon.

When Dale offers up the Group Buy jump all over it, this is the best thing by far I have done to this bike. I did it early because I was there and it was just the right opportunity.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on going with the 850, but it is nice to hear from someone who has first hand experience.

Nice report. I have been to the boondock cafe when I went to MT. Rushmore a couple of years ago. They have some real nice cars and bikes there all original.

I cam arounf the turn and there it was had to stop It is a treat in the Black HIlls.

Good report. You've now opened yourself up to pleas for help from all of us in Illinois who need help with our cabinets. ;)
