Sept 3th, I ship the SO off to Japan for a month(lots of brothers & sisters). I'M Free :D !

Sept 9, start two week vacation. Day one: take doggie to doggie hotel, A/C kennels, two arces to run in, 3 swimming pools, he may not come home. <_< Be home and on the bike by 10AM, taking I 74 West to I 80 West, at Iowa City I 380 North then US218 to US18 West to I 35 to Minneapolis/St. Paul to I 94 West. at Glendive in Eastern Montana, I'll find Montana 200 to 13, to US 2, then across the top of the World to Seattle.

Visit my sister for a couple of days, and back on the road, Ill be out of time, so it will be superslab time, and maybe a BB1500 on the way to Sparta, and if I feel good maybe I'll go for the Gold. :yahoo:

I plan to get there at about the same route I am taking next Saturday...criss-crossing east and west all the way up to Sparta from Dodgeville.

Wife swears she's coming this time so we're planning to take one of the ferry's from Michigan to Wisconsin. Will do the road trip planning portion this weekend with her input.

She's backed out of 2 WFO's and a CFO, leaving me on my own and been sorry once she heard the war stories and saw the pic's.

Being as this is a Sept. ride I'm hoping for more pleasant riding weather than the other venues offered so she'll get as hooked on motorcycle trips as I am.

so we're planning to take one of the ferry's from Michigan to Wisconsin
The ferry to Milwaukee is much faster. 2.5 hours to cross instead of 4 hours. Nicer boat, too.
Now if you haven't phoned you may not know this but I tried to book passage across on the "CAT" and it was all full. Or for when I wanted to take it.

I planned to across friday morning and come back sunday afternoon.

I do have passage booked on the Badger for friday morning at 9am and coming back 2pm on sunday.

eh?

Ok, We're doing the Lake Express from Muskegon to Milwaukee and you're right about the bookings Huron.

Had to jack our RT departure and arrival around several times before getting any joy. We'll be showing up a day earlier and leaving a bit earlier to make it all fit in with the ferry availability.

Any other option was out due to the wifes limited riding range and I sure didn't want to leave her home again. ;)

Anybody from west-central Minnesota that wants to tag along is more than welcome. I plan on leaving Friday morning sometime. TBD Take a more scenic route their. Maybe could even pull a Thursday trip down their if anybody might be interested in that. But I don't see many people being able to pull that off. Speak up if we can get a few to run down together.

Mike

Trying to get a posse rounded up from the MPLS area to leave Friday, sometime shortly after noon.

Possibles: Radman, Valetz, Shane, others?

Maybe we can bomb down together?

@Blitzer,

I am not exactly sure but I will most likely blitz up the northwest tollway to just south of the WI border, cut west on state and county roads to Dodgeville, then weave back and forth up to Sparta. The route that I will take will most likely follow what I posted up for a SW WI ride route thread...

I will not know exactly what I'm doing until I hear from KSFJR who I might be meeting in Rockford that Friday morning.

Glad to hear you're going to CFO. I'm sure you'll have a great time on those roads. Been up there before?

I'm hoping to take the whole day off anyway so I'd be up for that.

Shane and I are thinking noonish Friday. Have scouted several back road routes down, all 2 lane, all very nice, twisty even. Cop magnets like John are allowed, but 3 miles ahead of group. Shake them bushes John..... :p

WheatonFJR-

Been up there some years ago. I think I might try a run up 41 (maybe even have breakfast at Full Moon) to near WI border then go west to route 12.

That works its way far up near Sparta area. I've got all day to get up there so I'm just going to enjoy the ride.

See you there! Or maybe on the road going up. :D

@Blitzer,

You must live on the north side of Chicago to think about using that route. A US route going in and out of populated areas turns into a wagon train where the faster follow the slower. I don't know that area, but I guess that might be most of your day.

Take that route if you want, but I would slab it to a rural area or out in west WI and then take a state route/cnty route through rural/sweepers. It takes enough time to get out of Chicago metro. I would just get-out-of-Dodge...

Have fun - see you up there...

Well, I imagine if everything goes as planned (yeah right!) I'll take off from my house in Richfield and maybe meet up with Rad a little south of here.

Would someone like to propose a meeting place/time other than my house? At 12:30 pm?

Hastings maybe? Prescott filling station? Bueller? Anyone?

devanator, if you want directions to my house, pm me, and we'll get in sync with the others. I'm near the intersection of 494 and 35W. Easy-peasy.
