pad change, no.

wheel removal, yes. You don't want the abs sensor banging around or to coming in contact with anything metal.

Not on Gen 2 like your....because they're all ABS.

Gen 1 bikes have significantly different calipers on the front then Gen 2, but the difference between changing ABS and non-ABS is trivial at best and well covered at FJRTech.com.
