Seriously considering purchasing two(2) Chatterbox FRS-X2 units so that passenger and I can communicate, cell talk, listen to tunes or pay attention to the Escort 8500 RD! :)

Currently own a Collett Comm Platinum 900 system and it falls short of my expectations.

Any feedback from CB X2 owners would be much appreciated.

I have a CB X1. Works great for bike to bike communications. If you want communications with your pillion, They have a connecter that plugs into the CB so your pillion can talk with you. This is the cheaper way to go instead of buying two units.

The general consencus is that most people choose Autocom and dont like the chatterbox, But the Chatterbox works great for me!

I have the FRS-X2. It's "ok"

battery life is short, recharge time is long, it apparently doesn't have a 12v power option, proprietary plugs means you can't use high-quality headsets and I never got a cell-phone to work with it. Range is .5-1 mile unless you're in the desert.

Audio quality (even with the "noise reduction" sets) depends on the speed, bike and helmets in use.

My wife can hear me fine up to about 70 (Shoei RF1000, FJR with shield up) but I can't hear her over 55 (cheap HJC, Buell Blast with no shield).

Can't say as I recommend it. I'll sell you mine tho <_<

WOW!

I would say that you got a defective one. half mile range? I ride with several bikes in the Ozarks of missoui and the terrain is full of rock walls, trees, Hills, ect. Most of the guys i ride with have the X2, And i can hear them 3-4 miles at the most. With mine, X1, I can talk to them 5-6 miles.

My battery lasts forever! I plug my IPOD in and listen to it every trip and it lasts about 12 hours.

The speakers are not the best, But they do a decent job.

I have a GMRS-X1 and I like it quite a bit. Don't know about the X2 but I know they have the 12V set up for the X1 because I have it. It is hard wired into the bike and I just plug the X1 in everytime that I use it. Never have to worry about battery life. One complaint that I have heard about is that the jacks can wear rather quickly and connection can be difficult. I don't have it hooked up on the side of my helmet so I use extensions. Since I always leave the extension plugged into the unit the only connection that is getting worn is the headset and the extension. Both easily replaceable.

I"ve owned both the X2 and the old dual channel radios. I like the Chatterbox, have used it on many occasions and it survived a 55mph crash that totalled my bike and helmet. I have a bar mount for use with the FJR and run either my Ipod or my XM radio through it. Works great.

I like mine. GMRS version. Goes about 4 miles+. Saved us a few times as the riders in the front warned about upcoming hazards. I dont notice the weight or any drag on my helmet. Battery life lasts long too.

I hope that alot of FJR Pilots get them for the WFO-5! :D
