Say What??

I'm offended by your nigerian comments, I am Sir Jwilly III, If you will go open a bank account and put $5000 in it and then give me all of the info, i will deposit $3.5 million dollars that I made from selling border fences to The Mexican Gov't.

I want to know How you turn a bike over regularly, that has never had a battery or gas. Also, that was a tough 1.9 miles to push the bike.

$9,900 on a 26 year old bike. A classic muscle car it ain't. Tell em to call the Barbers museum. best bet.

Uh...what "gage info" is being displayed that would indicate a battery was in it?? The gauge panel looks perfectly normal for a non-powered CBX.

Quite common actually for some of these CBX's to show up with little or no miles. Honda had LOTS of extra CBX's sitting around years after they were put on the market so they dontated many many of them to trade schools and such for training purposes. Thousands of 1981 and 82 CBX's ended up like that. They were supposed to never be sold but CBX "school bikes" still show up occasionally with no miles and totally intact. Two years ago a friend of mine bought one similar to the one in the pictures with only 1500 miles on it and it was in nearly perfect condition. It was a school bike fresh from a crate that had never been "used" by students and only ridden a little by the previous owner. I am not sure how the owners obtained a clear title but they do somewhow.

I have no connections to this ebay ad nor am I in any way vouching for the authenticity of the ad but it is totally possible for this to be a "new" school bike that has been stored for quite some time. Possibly getting a clear title caused the extended storage and lack of miles....???

Bids on that bike are pretty much in line for a zero mile CBX based on other sales of restored and other shool bikes like that.

Everything that 'jestal' just said about the last incarnation CBX is true to what I know. I actually visited a school that had an '82 (the pearl white one) that was given to the mech. shop by Honda. I did an extended out West tour on an '81 just like the one now on ebay (except) with Euro-Sport control kit (Honda accessory that fitted lower bars/cables and rear sets). I loved the bike -- particularly the engine. I especially enjoyed rolling on the throttle to pass -- whoosh. They were not without their 'warts', tho -- leaking cam-cover gaskets, labor intensive maintenence, generally poor pro-link suspension, etc. But, in its day, a great sport-touring mount -- did I mention the engine?

The CBX gave me a hardon every time I saw one in a showroom, but decided on a 1980 CB750 out of the crate in 1981 as a better first bike. Wish I hadn't compromized, but maybe I'm alive now because of it.

The CBX in pristine shape still gives me a woody. They sounded so good going down the street....

there is a guy that plays soccer where I do that rides a very pristine CBX. He has around 3k miles on it and only rides it from time to time. I loved these bikes in the showroom, but didn't look at them much because I knew if I did, I'd start robbing banks, or do anything to get one. I liked them so much the drive to have one scared me away! Then, I was only 16 in 1982.

Somebody get ahold of Mortenson(aka HondaCBX6). He can buy this and actually own the CBX he has told us he owns all of these years... :D
