Chocoholics

I heard about this specialty chocolate store called Chocoholics in Clements, CA on Hwy 88 above Lockeford. I wanted to head down there and do a little early Christmas shopping so I emailed some locals to see who was interested. Rogdebs were ill, Last Chance had a Dr.s appointment but I was determined to head South. Lo and behold, Ric in Sac mailed me (I should have guessed, knowing Karen!) and they came down to my place this morning and we headed South from Elk Grove around 1045.

It was a bit cold and foggy but the sun began to break through the overcast. Rather than riding down Hwy 99 and heading East from Lodi, we decided to ride through the farmlands and enjoy the provincial scenery on our way to Clements. There is some lovely provincial areas South of my home.

Farms.

Vineyards.

We took off, not knowing exactly where the plant was, except, "Somewhere on Hwy 88, you can't miss it!" My favorite directions. As fortune would have it, the roads I chose to get to Clements intersected Hwy 88 on the corner the factory was located.

Chocoholics.

We left there after spending an hour or so tasting, buying and taking the tour. We headed East on Hwy 88 to Valley Springs and headed toward Pardee Dam.

Crossed the North levee.

We then rode Stony Creek Rd. toward Jackson where I stopped and took this photo of a barn for Andrew. I wonder what stories this barn could tell about the generations past who lived, worked and farmed in this area, about 10 miles West of Jackson?

We had a great lunch @ Mel's.

The crowd died off and we sat there and visited for an hour after lunch (@ 3:00 PM???) then headed our separate ways home.

It's good to live in NorCal where we can ride for the rest of you...... :blink:

Sounds like a fun ride MM2.

Terri and I rode up to Howard Creek Ranch at Westport yesterday and are at Ferndale's Victorian Inn today.

I saw some Chocoholics products at the "Golden Gait Mercantile" store here.

That stuff looks good.

Yeah, Rich, I read that report and decided saying nothing might be for the best..... :dribble: Some thought about "discretion" and "valor" kept ringing in my ears since Rich..Old Michael..and crabs were somehow related in the same thought line. :blink:

Karen bought some chocolate flavor lip gloss and had to try it out. Lucky Rick....and me! :yahoo: A lovely day for a short but pretty ride, AND I got some Christmas shopping out of the way. B)

I would have joined you all but I had a hankerin for a hot dog. So I left Marysville bout 3:15pm and headed for LA.

Met up with 50 other LD riders and enjoyed some of the best dogs in the world.

Lotsa story tellen and truth strechen till about 1:30 am when the group broke up.

Back home in Marysville by 9:30 am. Would have been home two hours sooner but the for got real thick in Lodi so I pulled off an waited 2 hours for the Sun to come up (like the song goes "Stuck in Old Lodi again")

Great seeing you again at Pink's. You are toughman in my book after eating that humongous dog and still riding back north that early morning. Glad you had a safe ride.

Now I know the LD riders secret to staying awake all night -- eat so you can't sleep!! :lol:

Glad I wasn't part of this.

I have a weakness for chocolate that supersedes all my (many) other weaknesses. Probably would still be there ....stuffing my face, smiling, and hallucinating from the co-co induced diabetic coma.

Seriously, not familiar with that place and will defiantly make it a stop next time over 88.

There is no way to tell you how great the many variations of chocolate are. Terrific...wonderful...rich...etc., do not begin to describe it. Click on the link I provided in the first post and order some for yourself.

BTW...the truffles are unbelievable! :yahoo:
