This morning as the sun was peeking over the trees I was enjoying a brisk 40 ish degree ride into work on a stretch of I75 notorious for LEO and High fines. No warnings, 11 mph over and your done.

I try to cruise at 9 over. Seeing as this is a holiday weekend for many, I was easier than usual with the throttle.

As I crested a hill with the sun in my face I see a shadow on the left side of the road at the concrete wall. I instantly backed off throttle and looked at speedo, 81 ( I have a speedo healer installed)

By Then I can make out the officer standing behind his car lowering his arms and turning to get in his car. I knew I was got. Sure enough, blue lights, I made my way over to the right shoulder and stopped. Oddly I was scared as hell, I switched off the bike and set the sidestand, lifted my flip face and was taking off my gloves as the officer greeted me.

He announced he clocked me at 81 in a 65 and asked for my license. (speedo healer test passed) I was fumbleing and shaking a bit tying to peel it out of my wallet, concerned he would notice the CCW permit behind it and ask about weapons. Instead he asked if I was comfortable riding when it was so cool out. I don't know if he was admireing my stich or wondering why I was shakng.

As I hand him my license I asked him to look ahead in the direction I was travelling.

The sun blinded him, Then I asked him to read my speedo. He mentions he could see his radar gun just fine lol

So he radios me in and I am thinking how much this fine is going to set back the farkle budget.

When he gives me my license back he says he has written 26 tickets in 3 hours and that I was the only one he let off. Woo Hoo!!!

This was truly my luckey day!

The merge back onto the intestate was fun, I slowed before cresting the next hill though...this officer and 2 others were there.

I have been hassled by ******** with a badge, but this officer was professinal and courtious with no chip on his shoulder. He had me dead to rights and I deserved the ticket.

What's a speedo healer?

It is the neatest farkle ever. Its a chip that installs on the speed wire from the ecu to the instrument cluster (same wire you would use for cruise control. It is programmable allowing you to add or subtract in order to correct the indicated speed.

While Speedohealer is the better known device, I actually got the "SpeedoDRD" much cheaper. It isn't listed for ABS bikes because they have connectors on them for the speed sensors on various bikes. I just got the cheapest model I could find (ebay) and hard wired it in.

edit: if you aren't ABS this could be much easier to install ;)

Yes you did, want one of mine?
I'll pass, but thanks ;)

Just glad he wasn't there 2 days before, I think I hit 115 passing a string of cages.

I have got to exercise self control and stop getting carried away by the thrill of the throttle.

I've been getting lucky for way too long and am afraid I am way overdue for a performance award. :(
