Sunday, March 30, 2008 Spring Fling Ride to Summerhaven!
Its time for Chuy Medina’s Annual Spring Fling Ride to the top of Mt. Lemmon in Southern Arizona. “El Burrito Ballerina” will meet his hail and hearty faithful riders & eaters at the Goldfield Chevron in Apache Junction.
The Goldfield Chevron is located at 3265 S. Goldfield Road in Apache Junction and our departure time is 0900 hours. The Chevron is located at the Southeast corner of US Route 60 and Goldfield Road at Exit Number 198.
We will ride down the Pinal Pioneer Parkway, Route 79; to Oracle Road, Route 77 and then stay on Oracle all the way to downtown Tucson at Grant.
Since we always have over 20 bikes on this run, and we don’t want to look like a Harley Parade going down the road, we’ll have a 2nd rendezvous spot in Tucson to regroup at before riding up the Catalina Hwy. mountainside.
The tortoises and the hares, and you know who you are Darlings, will meet up again at the Jack In The Box Restaurant located at the Southeast corner of Oracle Road and Grant Road. There is a Circle K there so you can refuel and the exact address is 305 W. Grant Road for you GPS navigation types.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summerhaven,_Arizona Our lunch will be at the Mount Lemmon Café. https://www.hotelcongress.com/ After we soak up the mountaintop views we will drop down to Old Tucson for pie and a cup of coffee on the patio of the Hotel Congress on Broadway and Toole Streets.
Then it’s a mad dash home up Interstate 10, completing a 300 mile day ride!
