Sunday, March 30, 2008 Spring Fling Ride to Summerhaven!

Its time for Chuy Medina’s Annual Spring Fling Ride to the top of Mt. Lemmon in Southern Arizona. “El Burrito Ballerina” will meet his hail and hearty faithful riders & eaters at the Goldfield Chevron in Apache Junction.

The Goldfield Chevron is located at 3265 S. Goldfield Road in Apache Junction and our departure time is 0900 hours. The Chevron is located at the Southeast corner of US Route 60 and Goldfield Road at Exit Number 198.

We will ride down the Pinal Pioneer Parkway, Route 79; to Oracle Road, Route 77 and then stay on Oracle all the way to downtown Tucson at Grant.

Since we always have over 20 bikes on this run, and we don’t want to look like a Harley Parade going down the road, we’ll have a 2nd rendezvous spot in Tucson to regroup at before riding up the Catalina Hwy. mountainside.

The tortoises and the hares, and you know who you are Darlings, will meet up again at the Jack In The Box Restaurant located at the Southeast corner of Oracle Road and Grant Road. There is a Circle K there so you can refuel and the exact address is 305 W. Grant Road for you GPS navigation types.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summerhaven,_Arizona Our lunch will be at the Mount Lemmon Café. https://www.hotelcongress.com/ After we soak up the mountaintop views we will drop down to Old Tucson for pie and a cup of coffee on the patio of the Hotel Congress on Broadway and Toole Streets.

Then it’s a mad dash home up Interstate 10, completing a 300 mile day ride!

Hope I can make this. Food, friends, bikes, & mountains ! Sounds like a great day . . . :good:

hey Don we gonna see you guys tomorrow evening?

R
Richard and Barry: Have you picked the restaurant and the time we are meeting at tomorrow night? I will call SkooterG and vectervp1 after I post this, to see if you have coordinated our rendezvous spot with them. Hope to see you soon. Don

PS: My home phone number is 480-917-3863 and my cell phone number is 602-722-0427.

What time to you think you'll make it to PHX area ? I may ride out & meet you somewhere, possibly Rest Area, Quartszite or Blythe

According to my MS streets and trips we should be entering AZ at around 2pm as we are not leaving Barry's until 11am. I would guess it would be somewhere between 1-30 and 2pm our time.

My guess is we will be the only low flying blue FJR's in the area so you will find us easy enough.

And Don last time I spoke with Greg he was sorting out a restaurant.

As for grub, I gotta a couple different options up here in northern Scottsdale, or possibly Cave Creek. Of course Richard's pansy-ass aversion to mexican food, and Barry's cheap-ass-motherlover prediliction to cheap food (which I share) limits the choices up here in the land of $$$$nottsdale.

But I still have some good options. Am really looking forward to seeing the guest of honor Smitty, and his fine fruits and nuts escort crew. Should be a hell of a night tomorrow. Hope you all aren't planning on getting up early. :D

See you tomorrow.

Mi Amigo SkooterG: Just give me a call at 602-722-0427 when you sort it out. Naturally, I have an 0600 work meeting at Luke Air Force Base tomorrow morning. But I'll hang with the crew as long as I can stand it. Hasta la vista, Chuy M.

Hello Gregory: Glad to see that you are riding with us and that G. directed you to our Spring Fling Ride to Summerhaven.

Greg, there will be a gentleman named Michael Burke waiting at the Circle K with you. Rides a 2004 BMW R1150RT bike.

SkooterG: Brother, so sorry that you won't be able to ride with us next Sunday, March 30. Response to this ride has been fantastic and the weather promises to be great. Between AZ Beemers, Fast Tour Riders Group and our FJR Forum here we have thirty riders RSVP'd for this annual event. Hope there won't be LEO on the road, but look out for them!
