clunky gear change on 06AE

Has anyone experienced a noisy clunk on the AE when shifting from neutral to first gear? I have just purchased a 06AE, and don't know if it is normal or not. I would have expected it to snick into gear as smoothly as all the other gears.

Mine does it and has since day one... so far it is not a problem. All other shifts are smooth as silk as long as my throttle control is good

sounds like it must be normal. I'll let the yamaha dealer see it though. thanks for the reply.

Mine definitely goes clunk in first. I just think of the little jolt as a cheap thrill
