My 06 has had a couple of bouts with the clutch plates not releasing when I pull the lever in coming to a stop . Sometimes it takes about a second to a second and a half for the plates to release . Has anyone else experienced anything like this. My dealer is aware of it so it,s a matter of when I want to get something done. It don't happen all the time, and I,m aware of it so I can deal with it ,especially because it would mean summer down time. Just wondering if mine is the only one.

Odot your in a mood this morn aint ya.

How many miles you got on it. the cable may need an adjustment to release the clutch fully

You might want to try bleeding the clutch slave cylinder. It is possible that there is a small air bubble that is affecting the clutch release.

Busted, dude. The clutch is hydraulic.

edit: how many miles on the '06 in question?

While air in the system would affect clutch disengagement, it won't affect engagement. The clutch pressure plate, as well as a spring within the clutch slave cylinder itself, ensures release. The clutch is sticky when new, as the bike is broken in, this tapers off. This is especially evident on the morning cold start and intial engage/disengage cycle. Could be it just needs a little more time to loosen up. Since it isn't constant, I don't think it's a big deal yet. An overfilled master cylinder could be a cause.

Does it slam into gear when you go from nuetral to first at a stop? That would suggest air in the system.

Bleeding it is all you can do anyway; there's no adjustment to be had anyway.

But if it's occasional then, yeah, probably just a break-in thing.
