the dips in temperature up here in so dak have me contemplating cold weather gear. i ride year round and it gets below zero quite often up here during the winter months. have full leathers which are alright down to about 20 degrees if i layer and have heated gloves on. super bulky, but tolerable. i am contemplating aerostich (1 or 2 piece) or something similar to the 1st gear kilimanjaro jacket and pants. are the aerostich pieces as warm as like the kilimanjaro, or is the warmth in what you have on underneath them? i realize that the aerostich is a superior product, but if they aren't as warm as something else, they may not be what i am looking for. i also have the cee-baileys barn door windscreen on the bike to block most of the wind, but it still gets a bit chilly. thanks for the input.

I just ordered the Aerostitch Darien jacket this morning. The pants will follow. I bought this jacket on the advice of two friends. One of them has had his Darien suit for 6 years and has ridden in it in Alaska and lots of rain. He has always been warm and dry. FJRTom on this board has two years on his Darien and swears by it. He just completed the 3 Flags Classic in it. This was good enough for me.

I refuse to be deterred by cold weather. Current trappings include a one piece aerostitch roadcrafter with Gerbings heated undergarments.

Dont forget the feet. I broke down nad got some insulated Browning hunting boots with small lug soles. They are warm a toast, and waterproof.

The Stitch" is waterproof but its not insulated. so you need to get some warm layers under it. I'd suggest a Gerbing heated jacket and gloves HMMMMMMMM-nice.... and wear the heated jacket next to your body with a sweater or ploar fleece over the Gerbing when cold. Don't forget some kind of wind proof thing for your neck, thats the first thing that frezzes on me.

I mounted a s.a.e. connector at the battery with a fuse, then have it run up through the left handlebar loom up 12". When not in use, I have it back aiming down through the right handlebar loom, out of harms way. ( I use that connector in the winter months to keep the battery charged). I also went with the "Heat troller" adjustable thermostat, I mount that on the tankbag between the mapcover and my gut. The red power wire, runs under mapholder on tankbag and connects to front S.A.E. Black wire going thru the Aerostitchs left hip pocket (it is velcoed and has a zipper) and connects to my Gerbing jacket.

This combo extends riding season for another month in Minnesooota.......

The thing you have to remember regarding outfits like the Stitch and others, if they're warm for the cold weather, you'd boil in hot weather...... So, they give you wind and water protection, but insulating them is up to you to do or open up the vents and stay cool. For that, " all season wear".
