My wife, Sandy, and I took off on a trip to see family and new friends. We left home on 5/27, a cold blustery day with driving rain (Pikes Peak got a foot of snow overnight), and returned home on 6/21 - 90F+. The ride took us from Monument, CO through KS, NE, IA, WI, MI, ON, to Jamestown, NY and back again. It included 2 ferry rides - SS Badger across Lake Michigan, and MS Chi-Cheemaun from the tip of the Bruce Peninsula at Tobermory, ON to Manitoulin Island, ON.
In the 3-1/2 weeks we were gone, we visited: our daughter and son-in-law for a week; my son, his girlfriend, and hopefully his future in-laws for 3 days, and Sandy's sister and brother-in-law for a week; and I was able to meet up with some fine people at the WNY Tech Day III.
Our typical travel day was only around 300 miles - we're old and we're soft. But we managed to keep Interstate Highway travel to less than 100 miles on our 4100 miles. Here are some pics to document the trip.
At a cabin on the Mississippi, 1st time through ...
Getting ready to board the SS Badger - 3 HD's, an RT, and our FJR were on the ferry
My glove mishap in Sarnia, ON - she warned me it would blow off the bike. Humble pie again
Successfully retrieved from the bridge...
Meet "Scary Lucy", Jamestown,NY ...
this is Lucille Ball?
The only FJR's I encountered - WNY Tech Day III, hosted by wnyfjr
Next, the Ferry at Tobermory
A 1200 GS, a Wee Strom, a Multistrada, 2 HD's, and our FJR on this boat ride ...
Sandy and me waiting to board ...
Colorful Stack and Deck Chairs
What a machine
And finally refreshment:
Wine served in flip flops ...
Salads disguised as Bloody Marys
with beer chasers, no less
On the Bluffs above the Mississippi ...
