Thats all it has-electric foot not an option on these. Has a battery, but no regulator, rectifier only. Ignition switch also controls headlight-1st position, no lights, brake light only, 2 elements of the alternator are active. 2nd position, headlights on, all six of the alternator elements active. Just one of the strange aspects of this bike.

And, please, start it using your right leg (Euro-style) v/s trying to do something, sitting on the bike, with your left leg. Stand next to the bike with your body 90 degrees to the bike's centerline and gently prod the lever with right leg.

I spent an afternoon with a Japanese engineer who had alot of involvement in X-6 design. Since we raced one, I wanted to set-up the alternator field coils for (something-like) 'energy transfer' so that the A-C pulses where timed with firing. After much discussion (his, poor, English being much better than my, non-existant, Japanese) and many diagrams/schematics drawn -- I finally got the message: "Can't be done."

Nice job! My neighbor had one of those bikes when I was growing up. It was fast for a 250 and managed to do highway speed. Do you have some personal memories of that model?

Being a vintage 2 stroke lover, I am in awe.

Been looking for a project bike myself. I so miss the smell of 2 stroke oil burning.

My last one was a 1985 RZ 500 that I reluctantly sold a few years ago.

My first street bike was a 1973 Suzuki GT 550 tripple.

A little update-Zook took a Best Suzuki trophy at the VJMC show in Maplewood today. I was very surprised, as there were some pretty stellar machines there, including a GT750 Water Buffalo with a motor that glowed like a reactor. 40 Zooks displayed. I am quite proud.

Not really, there's one in June that I wanted to be in time for. This one popped up, and I thought, what the hell, but I didn't expect this. I was floored, to be honest. :huh:
