Since this could be hooked up and run on a bike, it's sorta bike related.

Setting aside the FCC legality of such things within the USA...

What's your opinion of running a "Cone of Silence" like this?

Explanation as to bike use:

It could be run, hardwired to the bike, and let you ride in a "Cone of Silence" as you travel down the road.

Explanation as to non-bike use:

The yammering customer in the checkout line who takes 3 times as long to finish because they'd rather discuss The View with another mind-numbed cretin than finish their business with the cashier.

The movie patron who can't turn off their phone, thinks texting is less distracting to those around them, or thinks vibe mode is okay even though they light up the area and begin their conversation before going to the lobby (if they even bother to do that).

Other suggestions for bike and non-bike use could also make this thread intertaining.

Yeah, not a good idea at all... What is the very first thing someone does when their phone drops a call? They look at it. If they're looking at their phone, they're not looking for you. (I won't even get into FCC fines if your caught with the device.)

I think the only way it wouldn't cause issues (distractions for the drivers) is if it had enough range that they had given up trying to re-dial/ect. by the time you were passing them. If you were traveling at the same speed in a pack & survived the initial confusion, it would work, but as other cars moved into range they would become problems. Also, as you approached cops (who often use cells to stay off scanners, at least here) and then moved out of range might give you away. But if you parked in front of one of the dorms here (KSU), people would start jumping out of windows fairly quickly :) .

"non-bike uses?"

Churches, meetings and rest rooms.....ever sit in a stall with a guy taking a dump in the next one talking on his cell phone?
