I'm ride planning for next month and I'm considering riding into Mexico JSO Yuma, AZ and re-entering the US JSO Organ Pipe National Monument. Any advice or road info is appreciated (especially road conditions, traffic, speed limits, and other important stuff that I might overlook.

I've not been there, but I'm told to spring for the Mexican insurance. Don't ask me how to get it either... :dntknw:

IRT the auto insurance, you're right. There are no shortage of places in border towns to purchase the stuff and my insurance carrier will even sell it to me if I ask in advance (Allstate). I've ridden into Mexico before, so the insurance part is a fairly comfortable process for me. What I want to avoid is getting 100 miles into Mexico hwy 2 and finding out it turns into a goat trail.

Perhaps you could try calling the toursim folks in Sonora and ask them about the road.

From what I read, be prepared for the military checkpoints. The border area may be a little dicey.

Regs,

Jim
