On US93 just north of Tonopah there is some significant road work that caused a 30 minute delay for me today in the desert heat. This delay is between the intersection of HWY 6/US93 and Tonopah. Plan accordingly if you're coming to WFO via this route.

Well that sucks... might need to go back to my original path down 50 most of the way, since the other path really doesn't leave many options to get around that section of road... I hate sitting still in the desert...

Thanks for the "heads up" worldbound...

Ya know, groo.....heat attracts snakes. Bring a stick with ya...or at least a snake charmer if you can afford one.

Anyone preparing to travel through Nevada can check the following site for the latest road info. The US93 delays are only during the day and should be no problem at night. I recently navigated alternate US93 at night and the road was clear with no hold-ups.

I'd be coming through there in the daytime on the way into Reno...
Hwy50? would be my first choice, vs. sitting in construction zones.

I see a 6 that runs pretty much E/W through Tonopah, but no 93 on my maps. I'm taking 95/6 through Tonopah after departing WFO on the way to the ET HWY and Utah, so trying to get a handle on it. You talking about 95/6 on the N/W side of the city? Do they call 6 that comes from the NE side of the state 93/6? I see where they come together south of Ely and then run into the NE side of Tonopah. That where the trouble is?

Thanks for the warning. I can see a good use for a camelback and miracool vest in this area...
