Convert 2016 A to AE

I was inspired by all those wanting a slipper clutch in their FJRs. In my case I really miss the auto clutch engagement from my '08 AE, so much so that after a few hours in the machine shop I was able to convert my 16 A to an auto arrangement. I had and extra clutch laying around from one of my old sleds, so grafted it on. I thought the 6 speed was smooth before, now it's amazing. Picture attached.

Don't let 'em give you crap, dude. Myself, I converted my '05 FJR to an ES model. Changed the color, too. Only cost me about $11K.

Funny part is the 2016 Fjr1300AE is a normal clutch operating bike. The 2016 fjr1300AS has the YCC-S.

You must be looking at a European web site.

YCC-S hasn't available in North America since the 2009 MY. And in North America it was always called AE.

MCATrophy, who lives in England, has often pointed out these differences in labeling once the bikes get to their destinations outside of Japan.

I sure wish there were an AE, or an AS, or whatever else they'd like to call the YCC-S equipped bikes, but here in our neck of the woods, I might as well be wishing for some fairy dust to make the bike fly.

Part of the recent confusion about model names is the Yamaha uses a letter in each model number to denote the model year. So while the 2013 FJR models were FJR13ADG for the "A" model and FJR13ADCG for the Cali emissions variant, those two model numbers for 2014 are FJR13AER and FJR13AECR. The ES models are less confusing at FJR13ESER and FJR13ESECR.
