My coolant is level with the bottom mark on the reservoir. A mechanic at the dealership I purchased it from said this was OK, for expansion. Is this correct?

FWIW, I once topped mine to the max mark (engine cold). Checked it a week later, it was at about a third from the min mark. Been there ever since.

I wouldn't go more than a few miles unless I'd topped it up a bit if I were you, though. Have something in reserve.

I use the Min line as a reference when cold, and the Max line when hot. It is better to have a little too much in there than too little.

In the extreme, way too much and you'll spill some on the ground when it gets hot; way too little and you risk overheating.

Always check the level after the bike has completely cooled. If you notice the level drop between checks and then settle to a steady level you have just worked some air out of the system. If you notice the level drop, and keep dropping over time, then you probably have a leak.
