Ok.. my google-fu is weak today and looking at the parts diagrams on the phone sucks.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the coolant pipe o rings on a 2004 abs? Gearing up for that valve check!

PJ, try this very nice write-up from awhile back. There's probably many of us that have quite a few FredW posts bookmarked.

My little suggestions:

  • I was able to find the smaller O-rings at the local big-box store but the larger thermostat one wasn't an exact fix. Ended up going OEM on that one and it all slid together nicely.
  • Order Dave's PAIR plates ahead of time.
  • DON'T have a full tank of gas.
  • Wear good googles when blowing out the coolant ports (damhikt).

I already have the pair gone. That went away last summer :) I'm doing a tech day down in VA and need to get my stuff together. I have his write up bookmarked already too! Just wanted the o rings in hand. I've got everything else.

I took the old ones down to Lowe's and matched them up to a pack of 10. Of course, I had the engine out for transmission work, wasn't just doing a valve check. Still, unless it's a hundred miles to a building supply place from where you are, just take the old ones down to the store and match them up.

Valve clearance check parts:

Thermostat O-ring: 93210-23787-00

Water Pip O-ring: 93210-18417-00 (You need 2)

Valve Cover Gasket: 5JW-11193-00-00 (Highly recommended, just in case!)

Additional parts for valve adjustment:

Oil pump cover gasket - 5JW-15456-00-00

The CCT is a must do if it doesn't have a blue or green dot on it, which requires a CCT, the CCT gasket, and the oil pump cover gasket.

FYI... the latest intel is that the green dot CCT is supposed to be slightly better than the blue dot ones in terms of spring strength.

Thanks guys. I already did my cct. I believe it's a green dot. Apparently I should have an oil pump gasket too. :) I didn't know that one.

I found the O-ring packages I picked up at Lowe's, Home Depot, whichever it was, so for future reference for anybody seeing this later, the #13 rings fit the coolant pipes, and the #18 rings fit the thermostat housing. Seems like it was 2 bucks and change for 10 rings.

I never heard that before. I wonder if anyone has had a failure of a blue dot CCT? My blue dot CCT has around 125,000 miles on it.

Remember some talk about CCT's with no dot? That 'revision' was in between blue and green dot......... I have one here. Haven't heard of any failures.

Ummmmmmm, did they then find some green paint?
Given that the part number for the CCT has only changed once, a likely purpose of the colored dot is simply a visual indicator that the old CCT is no longer on the bike. If this is the case, any old colored dot will do the job.
