I just returned home from the MotoGP show at Laguna Seca. Mike Corbin had his trailer at the track and I asked him about plans for a lockable trunk to replace the passenger seat on the FJR. He told me that this is his most requested item and that he hopes to have it out in about a month.

Here is a link to the ST1300 version called the Smuggler which was on display.

That is a cool setup :dribble:

But $460.00 seems a bit too much, don't ya think? Looks like he wants his NRE all at once!!!

I like that one better than the one I made for mine.

$460 sounds about right for something like that.

That does look SHWEEET!... dang.. the farkling $ hole just got deeper and wider... :dribble:

Dude, ya gotsta play the safety card.

"But Schnookums, see this will keep me from falling off the back of the bike when I have to accelerate quickly to avoid that idiot pulling out from the side street, see?"

I guess that I just thought I was done buying things for the bike when I parked the GL1800...the FJR seems to like trinkets too! :)

Maybe if we all start writing our local Corbin reps... they'll build one for us too!

Seems to have worked for the BMW K1200 crowd.

I saw that at laguna also,,i did not take the time to talk to them but wish i would have ,,I hardly ever haul a passenger and boy that would be a nice addition,,Brian

I'm in on this too! I really like the idea of a replacement for the rear seat with a rider backrest built in. Compare to the price of an aftermarket rider's seat with a backrest only and I bet the trunk/backrest price looks pretty good by comparison. I could dispense with the tank bag for around town travel, too.

"with a rider backrest built in"

The unit could be really handy and look great but, by the looks of it I don't think that the back rest is going to be of much use. To be of any use it needs to be higher and be adjustable. JMHO.

I guess, then, I'm not the only one to buy all the "fun" stuff first, then when the wife starts to question the spending, switch over to buying the "safety" stuff. ;)

Looks good to me too. With the cost of just a backrest, the Corbon's doesn't seem to be too bad considering what you're getting.

I hope Mike Corbin is listening in on this discussion. He's gonna sell a boat load of those. I will probably account for one in Galaxy Blue. Time for another garage sale!
