There's FJR's everywhere! The hotel is full of them. Everywhere you ride you see them. Every gas station has a few.
I rode the New River Gorge Bridge ride to day. Very nice ride. Perfect weather. Can't thank the route planners enough.
This is so neat!

Road the Monkey Butt #6 today. Words can't explain. Fantastic!
Now, it's 3:30 PM, where is everyone? The beer is getting warm!
Guess I'll just have to tackle it alone. he he

I rode the Coal Mine Route #8 today. Absolutely awesome! It is really an adventure ride. It has it all.
I'm not sure it is for everyone but I enjoyed it. The first 1/3 was so beautiful I just had to go slow and soak it all in. Farms, hills, scenery, elevation changes. All of what I like the best. It does get intense in some areas and you have to stay on your game. Locals move right along on those roads. How embarassing is it when you are going to slow and holding up a mom in a minivan? Just ask me. I got everything thrown at me today. Forest rats, (not too close) a turkey that I thought for sure was a hit, chased by 2 dogs, gravel, potholes, single lane blind curves, (about a hundred) and hairpins that put you in first gear. It took me 8 hours instead of the posted 6 hours and I only stopped 4 times for 15 minutes, no lunch. More embarassment. But a fantastic ride no less.
So from today I have these lessons learned:
1. If you are doing 60 plus MPH and the curved arrow sign says 25 you better scrub off some speed or you will soon be wondering how much traction you are going to loose as your tires cross the yellow paint because that's were they are going and there seems no way to stop it. About 20 over the posted corner speed seems about right for me. YMMV.
2. When the Zumo calls out "Approaching Danger Steel Bridge" that is not a road you should be looking for!
3. Don't get to excited when the local cages are over the yellow line. They always seem to pull it back just in time. (4 occurances)
4. Stay right, stay right, stay right.
5. If you see an old guy getting his mail be prepared to wave, he will.
6. If you pull off the road in tall dry grass to get a quick picture, before you are done you will smell something burning.
That's it for today. I am exhausted.
Gee, the Thursday arrival prizes are disappearing at an alarming rate. Sorry.
What's that noise? WHOA, There is an FJR in the parking lot! Gotta go see who that may be.
Later,
Bob

Made it to the Brier Inn! :yahoo:
Rode Smoke Hole Rd. 33, 250, 219, today. The worst road I was on was excellent.
The best was pee your pants fun! Chicken strips gone, a first for me.
Checked into the hotel and apparently when I made the reservations my accent automatically classified were my room should be. They stuck my Yankee a$$ behind the building, in the back, in the corner. But, it's right across from the pool (which is not crowded at all, LOL) and right next to some outdoor sitting areas that should serve us well. Pretty cool actually. The rooms are big and nice. Free wireless. We got a good deal on the rooms no doubt. Thanks!
I did get to use my motorcycle tool kit today for the first time in 40K miles. The computer chair in my room was assembled backwards and it reclined forward instead of backwards. Is that a southern thing?
If I can figure out how to pull it off I plan on having arrival gifts for the first 48 riders who find their way back here Thursday. I'll start to work on that now.

I left Northeast CT at 08:00 and ended up in Romney WV at 18:00. Found a cute little motel for $45 and free wireless. Perfect. It's called the "Kool Wink" motel. Looks like it was built in the 50's or 60's but the rooms are spotless.
Lost 45 minutes in Hartford Ct and Danbury Ct traffic leaving at that time tough. What was I thinking?
Saw a bad accident on 81 in PA with Lifestar waiting in the medium. Saw an old guy back into someones Harley in a gas station and knock it over. The old guy got out and looked at the owner and asked if that was the same bike he backed over last week! Also saw another significant wreck on the back roads in WV. A SUV and a pickup collided on a corner.
I hope I don't see any more of that stuff.
I rode about 500 miles today. 425 slab and the rest back roads. I have about 250 left to get to the hotel. Tomorrow will be a fun day, all back roads. First thing on the agenda tomorrow is Smoke Hole Rd. I was told it was fun.
