The FJR and a couple of RT's will head out of the frozen tundra( Hills Iowa) on the 28th of Feb. I know we are chicken ***** , but we will trailer them to Smitty's south of St Louis, and ride from there. Cut us a break,it is only supposed to be -16 degrees tonight.(sucks big time)then straight south to Hammond LA to hopefully meet up with a cousin who lives in Phoenix and is going to attempt to ride his roadking all the way to meet us(good luck, his *** will never be the same) and then we will spend a night in Cedar Key Florida (gulf side with taverns) then on to Daytona to get into our condo rental Sat morning the 3rd. After that it will be a week of hitting as many dirttracks as we can to catch as many flattrack races as we can. can't wait. Smitty ,I will be calling you in a week or so for directions. on another note I've had the new CCS100 installed for a week and a half, and it is so friggin cold I can't bring myself to open the door and take it down the road for a couple of miles.hope it warms up enough for a test ride SOON. Thinking of warmer days and a big bottle of CROWN ROYAL. YEE HA

Mr. Dirt, your in luck... I just spent $1000.oo last week to remove two trees that were damaged in the november ice storm. You will be able to back your rig along side my shop and into the back yard... I don't mind spending a grand on my FJR.. but to cut two trees down just chaps my a$$.... :angry2: Smitty

Hey smitty, have fun at bikeweek, hope the trip down will be uneventful. Make sure you keep your eyes on the road while riding and watching all those skimpy dressed babes. <_< :yahoo:

Yes, I am excited about Daytona as it will be my first time attending. I have been unable to find anyone to ride with me so it looks like I will be going down by myself. I have plotted my route from SC using only back roads so it should take me about 9 hours to get there. I waited too late to get a room so it looks like I will be camping somewhere, which I do not mind. For you veterans, what should I NOT miss? I will be going down the first weekend. Arriving on Friday and leaving on Monday.

I made the ride from Rocky Mount, NC a couple of times when I lived there. On one return trip my buddy's belt drive broke on his HD. By the time we found a HD dealer in GA, but no replacement belt, we had pissed away about 4 hours. He had to leave the bike and get on the back of my 82 GS 1100 EZ for the frigid ride home. The temps had to dipped into the 20's by the time we hit Wilson, NC where he lived. We looked like Dumb and Dumber on that mini bike when they arrived in Aspen. I'm just glad we were able to make restroom stops on the way.

What not to miss:

It is a poorly kept secret that the Iron Horse Saloon, 1068 N. US1, Ormond Beaqch, FL, offers free beer every afternoon from 3-4PM for those that purchase one of their mugs. Mugs are good from any year. It is not unusual to see these bungee'd to bikes rolling into the place. It is a pretty cool place. There is a whole network of tree houses/bars connected by catwalks. They have live entertainment all day and many other attractions. The burnout pit is one source of amusement/amazement. I've seen more thatn one bike ridened in and trailered home.

If you like the blues, check out the Burnt River Band. They usually headline at Gilly's Pub 44 at 1889 SR 44, New Smyrna Beach. They have a rice-burner bike bash every year for charity. Last time I was there they had a Yamaha Venture in the cage. They wouldn't accept my 11th hour repreive offer, so I donated $5 and grabbed the sledge hammer.

I live here and always take the week off, the event really is county wide. The two bars mentioned are good for watching the carnival, as is Main and Beach sts. where it all started.

The Boardwalk and Ocean center are good for custom bike shows and Harley lovers.

Dirttracker, Memorial stadium on LPGA blvd. has some great flattracking. I've also heard of some up in St. Augustine, have to check on that if you want.

I also like the swapmeet and Jerry woods Auction in Deland. Am meeting up with chief 48 for another swapmeet in Eustis.

Finally the best for last. There is some good racing at the speedway all week culminating with the 200. We have a gang that hangs out in turn 6 and all are welcome! I'd love to see 20 FJRs parked next to the vintage Nortons! Also all the factories have demo rides at the front of the speedway(where I first rode the FJR in "05)

Anyway, I would love to share some BBQ and beer, and maybe ride some back roads, and watch some racing with Y'all. PM for a phone number.

I raced at the old stadium in town in the late 80's and at volusia, awesome track.I come down to bike week everyother year or so ,so Iv'e pretty much seen it all,but my brother never has. I'm not much for the road racing ,too spread out andtoo far away. I would rather see em sideways and rubbin elbows.and throwin a 10 foot rooster tail!!!!!! How is Smitty's BBQ buffet up in ormand ? it says 7or8 dollars all U can eat

I'll be heading out from Utah in early-ish March. exact day will be decided with The Weather Channel as my guide. Hope to ride out, but have trailered south in the past to get away from the wet spring storms.

You've got this place wired if you raced the old stadium, Your'e right about the road racing, the west horseshoe where we are doesn't allow viewing the east end and start finish line. I don't like the grandstands, too restrictive seating. Doesn't allow for tailgating and walking around to see the "sights".

You're probably thinking of Sonnys BBQ, its a southeast chain that runs those specials Tues. chicken, Wed. pork, Thurs. ribs ( i think). Very good food. I've got a few slabs in the freezer, almost time for thawing and dry rub! Lets hope for good weather, it'll be a good week regardless!

I will be there for the 8th, 9th and 10th, will be watching the Supercross Friday night and then the 200 on Saturday, probably head out to the cabbage patch Saturday night, then getting over hangover Sunday morning then heading back to Pensacola.

Would love to hook with some other Feejers
