I joined the Crash Club today, I was on my way home on Elliott Ave heading North and a motocycle pulled out from my right turning left right in front of me I got on the binders but was unable to stop and T-Boned him. The guy was in his late 60's early 70's and his wife was on the back. He was on a Yamaha Virago, I bent his forks and dented his tank. his bike was pertty bad, my bike was just scratches but I need to see whats under the plastic to be sure there is no damage. I never thought I would be able to ride home after a T-Bone, I hit the other bike right in front of the engine on the triple tree bent his forks bad. he had a hard time rolling his bike off the road.

My bike faired well, maybe I don't need a "Crash Club" in my signature but a "Road Kill"

We are always looking for the socker moms in a minivan, what an irony a bike cut out in front of you. I am really happy all are free of injury (or you would have mentioned it, I assume). I hope insurance makes everything whole for bothyou and them. If you need a stock left mirror I owe you one from a year ago...

Keep us up on developments.

We all walked away, the other rider thanked me for being a good rider and not take his leg off. The officer also commended me on my riding,. The other rider has insurance, Progressive. I'm going to bring my bike in to the shop to have them look at the damaged plastic

I'm glad all parties are OK. I hope this doesn't end his riding - unless of course it's time to do so..

Very happy you are OK, and that it looks like insurance will take care of you.

Jeesh.. You never know..

Sorry to see this Marcus...but really glad that no one was injured. Good job being alert, getting on the binders and minimizing the damage. Looks like the FJR will ride again.

Let the gang know if you need anything, and ENOUGH of this crashing up here.

Was the other rider cited?
Not sure, I was able to leave before him. The officer gave me the case #, I also had 2 witness that gave me there cards, 1 witness behind me and the other coming towards me. The other rider admitted he was at falt.

Remember, all parts that have a scratch need to be replaced. You can do all the work and save money. May even be able to upgrade something. ie: suspension at GP. Some parts may be buffed out to a satifactory finish.

Keep the bike for ever and you will never see the flaws if no one else sees them.

Glad you are okay, and the other folks too.

Wow, glad you were able to walk away, unbelievable you were actually able to RIDE away from that T-Bone! Seeing that dent in the Virago makes me wonder were the impact went on the front of your bike...

Anyway, I hope the insurance will get right on it.

Glad everybody is OK.

Make sure you have the forks and frame checked for any bending. Forks (tubes) especially bend rather easily and you may now have ones that are bent ever so slightly that the bend it not apparent.

Marcus, I'm so very sorry this happened and so very happy that everything worked out so well. I really want to compliment you on your riding skills, you did an incredible job. Bravo, well done Friend!

If there was ever a perfect T-Bone this would be it. My front tire went between his engine and front wheel and my headlight/cowling hit the tank. after I took the pictures of the Virago I know there may be broken mounting tabs under the plastic. I am going to have the shop check everything under the cowling, forks, frame. The impact speed was pretty low 10-15 mph I was going 40mph. He pulled out about 25-30 feet in front of me. I would be surprise looking at the Virago's damage that I only got away with a few scratches on the FJR. I'm going to take off some panels to peek under the front cowling to see what it looks like inside.

That Yamaha looks totaled. Yes, I bet you will find broken headlight assembly mounting tabs. I had a slow speed headlight impact and broke my tabs. I used plastic welding to repair them, but you'll get a new one.

Jeez - very glad to hear you are OK, Marcus. Also that the other folks were fine.

Sad to hear this happened at all, but glad to hear the gent accepted responsibly for the mistake.

Guess you'll need to track down Scottie and get the Enterprise into a "dry dock" for a look see.

If there's anything that needs our help, I'm sure the gang here would lend a hand happily.

Geez Marcus, tough luck, it looks like you handled it pretty well given your options, nothing like youthful reflexes to help out. Now comes the tedious part, not to be in a hurry. Rear ended at a stoplight couple of years back (on the wing, thank goodness for all the plastic)by a progressive client, new parts instead of repaired/painted expedited time in shop because I requested a loaner. Good luck.
