So This was Thankfully NOT on my bike (or I would not be here) Just left the fire station heading left at a T intersection with a triangle island, completely stopped watching oncoming traffic coming towards us to island/intersection. watching an oncoming small SUV 200yrds and closing elderly women slumps over and speeds up full throttle, veers offroad to left (missing tree)veers back on with a beeline for us head on we were at full stop and trapped by the island. dove away upon impact as she somehow did NOT hit us head on but hit the D.S.rear qtr spun our fullsize F250 around and continued not only thru the intersection then airbound overcurb thru fence two backyards finally crashing into the third house rear deck all at full speed! chaos ensued and as the scene calmed down we walked the scene She stopped full 200yard PAST the point of original impact with us!!! She was evac'ed and hopefully be OK clearly a MED issue but not knowing she was full on the gas pedal Thankfully we were not hurt (shaken up to say the least) (truck wrecked) Just goes to show you **** happens FAST when you least expect it so.... EXPECT IT Going now for a lottery ticket Bluejag

WOW! I was reading that through my fingers, really glad to see that y'all made it out OK :yahoo: I seem to remembering recently hearing about a fancy new white truck :rip_1: Were you responsible for Helen's terrible commute through Woburn this afternoon? I'm really relieved that it had a good outcome and everyone gets to go home at the end of the day.

Thank's Alan (not sure about the white truck) I was in our fully decked out service vehicle

(Town owned)F250 Super Duty utility body, tools ,gen, air compressor a heavy truck. Hitting us at full speed did'nt slow her down much at all the police recon team estimated her speed at roughly 45 to 50 MPH at impact. I still dont understand how she covered so much distance AFTER initial impact (her car was still racing when we got to it) JAG

Traffic was screwed for about an hour

That thing about seeing it in slow motion seems to be true, we faced her head on and watched what seemed like forever..we knew we were going to get hit but in reality it all took what was more like 3 or 4 seconds.... We hope she will be ok

Damn! Glad to hear you're okay and thank goodness you weren't on the bike. And hopefully the SUV driver is okay.

Good night!! SO glad you are ok!!! That is just awful....

Makes ya stop and think though, doesn't it? You know, the "If I were on the bike, what would I have done?" thing.... Not just meaning the I would've been squashed routine (which is completely possible), but as you're sitting there and time stops where it feels like a long time is passing when in reality it's only a few seconds like you said, the would I have driven left or right, or dirched the bike and ran, etc kinda stuff.

scary! :butcher:

CJ I think "on the bike" would have been much different. The ability to accelerate very quickly and manuver in that tight area (and knowing you are no match for a SUV) I'm sure I would have "on the bike" had a much better chance of getting out of the way

Glad you didn't get injured. Would have been a bummer with NERDS coming up.

I don't think Gale would go it alone.
