Glad it was caught while it was still operable. Sending good mojo her way.

When I turned 50, I had a colonoscopy. Everything was fine, and the doctor said "See you in 10 years". For me, the worst thing about the whole process was not being able to eat anything the day before the procedure. I was HUNGRY. But by later in the day, I was fine. Drinking the "magic juice" was ummm, errrr, "entertaining", or at least the results were entertaining. As far as the procedure......nothing to it. Remember, folks, (especially men), the people performing this procedure do this every day, so they've seen it all, and are not going to be embarassed for you. Getting it done does not mean you have gay tendencies, or some unspoken fetish. It's a common medical procedure, pure and simple. It can detect one of the most curable forms of cancer, at very early stages. It's not painful. It's not gross. It can save your life.

One really fun bonus.....you'll fart like a draft horse for several hours after the procedure. No smell (there's nothing left inside you to cause stink), and they will be long and LOUD. Go scare the cat, impress your friends, or stop by the local nursing home and walk around blaming it on others. You WILL laugh at your own impressive skills.

Recap: go get a colonoscopy. It can save your life.

Good luck with your wife's healing, and great idea to post on this subject.

Jeff,

I trust all is well and you/wife are in our thoughts/prayers.

+1 on the importance of getting a colonoscopy done. I have a very thorough doctor who, following my last annual, setup an appointment for me to have the exam even though I am just 44. I just found out this week at my follow-up that a pre-cancerous polyp was removed during the exam. The procedure is not a big deal. Have it done!

Hope your wifey has a 100% complete recovery...

..thanks for the post. I've had one procedure and hated it, but your post made me rethink my thoughts to blow off future tests.

Also...thanks for the vids...I love them as it is -3F out right now.

I've had four, and the procedure is painless, actually enjoyable if they let you watch on TV. The prep the day before is worse. Please go get it done and don't go more than five years (10 years is old school). My sister had colorectal cancer and having a colostopy the rest of your life isn't pretty. This cancer can be prevented!! Just go!

Jeff, all the best to you and your wife for a successful conclusion.

Sounds like they have caught it early and she did not ignore the pain.

Please keep us posted and good thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Okay, this is weird! I just had this done yesterday!

The scan was no big deal. They put you in the "twilight zone". One minute you're asking hey when is this stuff going to kick in? A split second later, you're back in recovery.

In my case, with a huge sense of relief and weight off my mind.

Our thoughts are with you as well jdog. We've had big news in the past and can relate. For myself, I've found that everything tastes a little better and everything looks a little brighter after getting that second chance! Don't let a day go by without hugs and kisses and don't leave the house without saying you love her!

Jeff, good luck to your wife and you. She'll be running the wheels off the burgman soon.

I have two friends that ignored the symptoms too long. My receptionist now has stage four liver cancer and it will take her life sooner than later, chemo is the only thing keeping her alive. A friend I grew up with had the same problems, but the cancer was still contained in the colon. A portion removed, chemo and a clean bill of health.

Both could have been prevented with an early response to the symptoms, and prior tests. We're getting to the age where if something bothers you, have it checked out.

Again, good luck to the two of you.

Tell Gdog to get better soon. Hopefully you are a good "nurse" :) Great music in the second vid. who is it?
