Looking to buy a 08A sometime between now and April. I've been to two local dealers, neither seemed too interested in taking my money. The dealer in Cortland, NY quoted me 13,500, and the dealer in Binghampton, NY quoted 13,200. Can anyone recommend a dealer within a couple hundred miles from Ithaca, NY.

Thanks,.......this ninja rocks! :assassin:

Check with Glider City cycles in Elmira NY. They origianally quoted me 12,600. I know they have at least one coming. I know for sure they would take your money. I also know they have a leftover 07 on the floor that they might be willing to deal if your interested. I never asked about that price, as I am not as fond of the maroon.

Dave Acuto is the sales guy there. Seems like a nice enough guy. Offer him 12,500 with $500 down now and I bet he takes it.

Good luck

How about Lanes Yamaha in Watkins, I got my first motorcycle there 25 years ago. I was at Lanes in October, and while he didn't have an FJR at the time they said they were getting 2 Ravens, and no AEs initially.

There was a nice Vmax there that I was in love with. Took all my strength to leave the showroom without writing a check.

Thanks, Maybe I'll head down there this weekend and talk to them!
I assume you are talking about CNY in Cortland.. if not, you should try them. I bought a new Yamaha phazer from them last season and the salesman (Tim) and the service manager (mike) are second to none.....they gave me the best price of anyone in New York State and I have had the sled there for some warranty work. VERY SATISFIED...

I can't recommend them for their customer service, but for price alone you could try North American Warhorse in Dunmore, PA. I bought my '06 from them for $11,500.

From Rochester, NY

Stop dicking around with them dealers and do this:

- - Find out how much D&H sells the 08 plus YES for

- - Go to a dealer in your area and find out if they will be getting in any 08's

- - Tell them that you are thinking about buying an 08 from a discount store in Birmingham and will have to get a 100.00 airplane ticket to fly down there and ride your new bike back......BUT

- -You would just as soon purchase said bike from a local dealer and allow your money to stay in the state of NY if they could get anywhere's close or moderately close to that number

- - You then give them the price that you are going to have to pay down in Alabama and ask them HOW CLOSE CAN THEY COME TO IT.....Then you shut-up and say no more.

Then watch and see them come to about 500.00 over the Alabama price. Then you buy from them.

Don't ask me how I know this works. But, if I had it to do all over again I would get the cheap ticket and fly down to Alabama then ride my new bike back home.

Troy City Garage is selling '08s for $12,799 plus tax. I purchased my '06 from them.

Their service dept. pissed me off recently when they said I would need to leave the bike for a week for the ECU recall (a 30 min. job). This was during the riding season so I said I'd bring it in over the winter. Then they told me they only work on snowmobiles in the winter so I'd have to wait until the spring...and leave it a week. The asshats in the service dept. shouldn't be a concern to you however.

I don't know how many FJRs he sells but there is a dealer in Alexander, NY between Batavia and Attica that is a great place to deal with. We've bought many bikes from him over the years.

Jim Johncox is the guy that ran it for many years. I think his son Eric has taken over the operations. Eric was a couple years behind me in high school at Alexander. Hard to believe he has been working there for 30 years, he wasn't much over 10 when he started running the register and selling parts.

That was the first place I had ever seen an MV Augusta. They had one on the floor for $6500 around '75. He was more of a European bike dealer back then and took on Yamaha in '77 or '78. We bought a couple Moto Guzzis, Nortons, and Yamahas from him.

Sunnyside is worth giving a shot.

There are a couple dealers closer to Buffalo that I have had exposure to a long time ago. Don George's and Pioneer Motorsports but I can't really say good or bad about them now.

Hello, When I was looking to buy my '06 I created a "cover letter" & faxed my inquiery regarding price & availability to all the Yamaha dealers in my area

(you pick the distance).I sent out about 15-got about 7-8 answers back. This kind of cuts down travel & phone calls. Finally it came down to 2 dealers. One

I had bought 2 Yamaha's back in the '80's-Cycle Enterprises in Bloomfield,N.Y. (south of Rochester, about 30 miles) Very nice people to deal with. The other

was Filer's Powersports in Palmyra,N.Y. (also south of Rochester & east about 20 miles ) whom I finally bought from.I did get a very good deal for the bike

$11,500. & Ted (owner) did give me the same price on the YES plan as D&H. I put my deposit down in November.Ted also sells snow machines & that year

& time we had no snow & he wasn't selling very much-except a couple ATV's ,so he was happy to sell something. I'm sure if you purchased from Filer's,you

probably would not be getting service there anyway-being from the central region. When I have needed to get service there I have been happy with it.

The main reason I went with Filer's was that I was working about 5 miles away & it was easy for me to visit on my lunch break .There was only about two

hundred dollars difference between the 2 dealers. Good Luck-I know I made the right disision to get a FJR. Came from a Honda Goldwing(really enjoyed that

bike too) Sliick2 :clapping:
