I put 800-1,000 miles a week on in my service truck, plus whatever I can manage on my bike. I cannot remember a season where I've seen so many deer and deer strikes. Fortunately, I haven't been near ground zero for any of them, but just today in 200 miles of Interstate I saw 1 live deer and 3 strike remains. In the past few weeks I've had to slow - somewhat rapidly in one case, three times to maintain close to a satisfactory zone of separation. In another case, again fortunately in my truck, a deer came off a bank and had to slide all four hooves to keep from running into ME.

I don't know if there is any relation, but I've also found two small snakes in the past few weeks in buildings containing equipment that I maintain; we're not talking sheds here, either, but buildings that are climate controlled with tiled floors, etc. I think that at least one was a rattlesnake, too small to have rattles. I've always been on the lookout for them, but this is the first time in 12 years that I've seen any.

Anyhow, watch out for the Bambis! :dribble: (The snakes shouldn't be a problem as long as you're at speed... :D )

I went on safari on Tuesday night. I rode about 125 mile here locally right through and beyond "Deer-thirty o'clock" I was looking for them and I saw some doozies! Lotta nice bucks in a few areas and I also caught up with the "La Panza Herd" of Tule Elk in our county. Counted 32 Elk in the heirem with 4 of those being this years drop. Cool animals for sure!

I just remind myself, there's plenty of room for all of God's Creatures.....right next to the Mashed Potatos.
