Ouch. I may have hit it too, but it didn't look like he ever hit the brakes... and the forest rat came out of an open field. ...hope the rider is okay.

funny thats what i was thinking do you not look around you while riding???

Looking at that vid and got to wondering whether the rider actually went down so examined it closely to find this frame.

Heh heh heh.

Looks like the rider at least could have stayed up, though not proof that he did. The camera did a windmill though.

It also looked like the front rider hit his brakes briefly however with that said.... it was a small doe.....they blend in so well with nature.

I live out in the country and am constantly scanning for such critters but even so, while riding late in the afternoon yesterday I came across no less then 5 small doe standing in an open field (uncut grass) which I found hard to see.....fortunately I was only doing about 35 if that. I have learned that while riding in the country you are very foolish to go over the speed limit........many times during the evening hours I am below the speed limit.

In the rural area in which I live, the county does a poor job of keep the road right-of-way clear. I forest rat can be completely conceled, take 2 steps and be in your path on the black top.

My biggest real-world fear.

2 deer on the road.......

My brother-in-law decided to miss the first one and hit the second one....

He missed 3 months of work.....

His Goldwing had $8000 damage.......

Insurance fixed his bike and then he traded it for a new one..... ;)

:eh: I know a woman that has hit 4 of them - one while on her bicycle. She is spooked by em.

On a bicycle? Sheesh. I would develop a phobia too. Just because she's thinks all the deer are out to get her, don't mean that they aren't!

DEER are SUICIDAL! I hit one 2 years ago, 1/2 hour before dark in Dec. They really blend in with low light. I was on my KLR and just caught the head of a small doe with front fender, gas tank and my knee. Them suckers are soild. Lucked out and stayed up on two wheels, being on a dual sport helped with the lighter bike weight and manuverabilty. Should be open season all year long, we could feed the homeless with the meat. :assasin:

Does anyone here know if those dear whistles are worth the money?

DEER are SUICIDAL!
I've often thought this myself. They've been around long enough to have evolved their instincts and intelligence, I would think, that they know a car or truck equals certain demise.

Perhaps if they're being chased by a mountain lion and know the end is moments away they choose the quicker and more painless method of stepping in front of a Peterbilt.

Or maybe they are stupid :( .

If someone invented a gun that fired bullets that traveled 45mph, had flashing lights and honking horns they would never miss!

So your saying the supposed deer whistles don't work.....then why do so many people put them on there cars & bikes

Some swear they work... I've read and heard too many accounts of people having them and hitting deer to believe they work.
