I am newbie to XM radio, so did some research.

Here is the model I landed with to buy. Would like to hear your input.

I am thinking this mount would work, on the brake/clutch reservoir or on a ram mount.

I live in NJ. Do I need to get an external antenna such as this?

Direct wire like so?

Looks good, kind of small buttons to use with a glove on though. I just have am old SkyfiII that works OK. Its hard not to be distracted trying to the station you want to listen to.

I run an XM Roady 2 that I don't think is available.

The buttons on that unit are small for gloved use, but I dig the rotary dial. The PCA clutch reservoir mount looks like it will work as well, if not better, than the custom unit I built for my Roady. Your new radio should come with an antenna that works well already, so you shouldn't need to buy a new one. Just be sure it has a clean view of the sky. And last but not least, definitely direct wire. I tried using the cig lighter jack that came with my Roady and wound up with a terrible high pitched whine. Once hardwired, it went away.
