Well, after much thought over the past couple of weeks, and research/reading, I put a deposit down on an AE. I "should" be picking the bike up this Sat. The only contingency is a quick test ride. I was told by the dealership that they "usually don't do this" but if I complete the paperwork I can take it for a test ride if that's the "only thing determining" the sale.

My concern is the (1) how the bike feels from a dead stop... I've read about it being jerky and (2) how the bike handles downshifting.

First modificiation will be lowering the seat so I'm more planted on the ground; my inseam is 29" so it's a "comfortable stretch" to touch with both feet on the bike for me. Next mod will probably be some type of riser (with pullback) so I sit upright more.

FWIW, I'm paying 15k OTD.

Sometimes my electric clutch is grabby from a stop. Sometimes it isn't. For the most part, it's pretty smooth. I think you'll like it. After a couple hours on the bike, you won't probably even notice the lever is missing on the left.

Although I still reach for it occasionally... and probably always will. Old dogs and new tricks, you know!

Congrats on your pending purchase. I think you'll be very happy.

What do you mean grabby?

I figure I'll get used to it, I just don't want it really jerky that I have to worry about any passenger not being "ready" when I start moving.

No, it's nothing like that. It's just like any other motorcycle clutch I've ever had, except I'm not doing the work. But if you are wishy washy on the throttle (modulate it too much while the clutch brain is trying to figure out what the heck you're doing?!), at certain points it's a little grabby. Infrequently and not anywhere near dangerously. Just not buttery smooth like it is 99% of the time.

I've only noticed it when I'm in my loose gravel driveway trying to get out of the rock pile.
