We get a lot of emails with videos attached. Our current computer spins its wheels show a brief bit of the video and spins again. We plan on getting a new computer for this reason. What should I watch for when we get ready for the purchase.

I currently use Verizon wireless with a USB760 plugin. Not sure about the bits per second.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like your Computer Firewall/AV is Blocking what ever attachment video/link your are getting.

Check your Settings on these and then they may be seen and No reason to get a New Computer for this.

This is also risky business opening Email Videos for they may be Breached with Virus/Malware.

For best viewing of emailed videos, you should save the videos to your computer, say on the desktop, or in a specific download folder, and play them with a robust video player.

I suggest Media Player Classic, as my preferred player of choice.

Here's a link to the free, virus/malware-free download. LINKY Simply choose the version right for the computer you buy.

NEVER open links in e-mail.

If you can't manually navigate to YouTube and view it, save the attachment out and virus scan it. If you can't do that, delete it without viewing. You'll be better off.

I hate when people attach video to email. I ask them to please simply provide link to the video, on it's original website or youtube etc. If it's an original video file, (one with no host website), they can ask me first if I'd care to download it.

I use a macbook, and a couple of linux machines so am not terribly concerned about malware, however my rural interwebs connection is relatively slow, so being forced to download a video attachment can be annoyingly time-consuming

For video playback I generally use Mplayer on the macbook, and VLC on Linux. Both of these are available for Windows PC
