I am a member of the Tacoma Motorcycle Club. The club has the oldest still active AMA charter membership in Washington (I believe it is #59). TMC has been an active club for 102 years now. THe earliest documented records for teh club are from 1910. There was a newspaper article in the Tacoma News Tribune talking about a motorcycle ride organized by the TMC. The TMC is about 85 members many othem are 3rd and 4th generation members.

27 years ago the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiests (VME) approaced TMC to have us take over an event they started called Dinasour Daze. TMC did and has done so for the last 27 years. The event is always held the first full weekend in June.

EDIT: the track is Riverdale - it is located in the shawdow of Mt. St. Helens on SR 504 (Spirit Lake Memorial Highway) just before you get to SR 505.

Saturday featured open traction TT flat track race. This race attracts folks from all over. We run vintage, almost vintage and a couple of modern classes.

Here is some pictures from a couple of the heat races. Steve Baker AMA Grand National #11 is a local racer and showed up to get some practice on a borrowed bike. Man that guy is fast! (he is on #95 below)

There was some very nice vintage motorcycles here.

As we were standing there, my kids were doing lap checking and up walks Kasey Keller ( the Seattle Sounders Goal Keeper - retired 2011). They doubted me. I told them go up and ask for a picture. He was gracious. And as you can see he is now dirt biking since he reitred.

Very Nice Bryan! The TMC is truly revered in the MC community in these parts.

Many memories were relived reading your RR. I remember very clearly driving down to Castle Rock, WA and watching Steve Baker compete with the dig guns on the flat Track down there. He made all of us north-westerners proud. The PNW produced some very good MC racers in the day.

And of course Bouncing Bob was always eager to entertain and did so with style.

The Husky over Kasey Keller's shoulder brings back memories although my two were of a little earlier vintage.

Great fun... Thanks for posting this.

Keep Going!

Woulda been there with ya, but I had plans elsewhere.

For you PNW members, this is a great event and the club works really hard to make it a success. Last year I worked one of the corners, and it was really fun watching these vintage riders bikes make it through the track. The flat track is one of my favorites to watch; you get 50-70 year olds going full bore through the corners without fear.

Totally worth the visit next year.
