It often seems like if someone wants to get away with murder, just crash into a motorcyclist and then say, "I didn't see him."

Well, this time that isn't the case. An angry driver who swerved into a group of motorcyclists, killing one and injuring others, is being charged with murder. Way to go, Alameda County DA!

Driver charged with murdering Hells Angel biker

OMG - :dribble:

That cager was is totaly in-freaking-sane! He is too dangerous to be let out of jail in his lifetime. He hates motorcyclists, period!

This is obviously not you typical case. And me thinks this ******* picked the wrong group to mess with. If the law don't get him, surely the Hell's Angels will.

Stupid hurts.

Cheese, what a murderous ***! I am glad he got charged with what he did.

Road rage is one of the worst inventions of mankind, and I have a feeling that it will only get worse in the future. Maybe self-driving cars will help?

hope he dont bump into too many hells angels in the big house or there aint gonna be a trial

He is in protective custody for a good reason. Hopefully all his confessions and statements will be admissible. He'll never see the light of day. Suicide by Hells Angles is a new version of the old Suicide by Cop.

FWIW...The DA has nothing to do with the driver being charged. The cops who investigated the crash and arrested him are the ones that charged him with vehicular homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It will be up to the DA to follow through with the charges by taking the case to a Grand Jury. I doubt the DA will suddenly turn soft after the case has made so much news, but you never know...

this is one that happened in my neck of the woods yesterday

I love the drivers response "I couldn't have been driving I was too high"
That breaks my heart to think about that father and son. And what can you do with your anger about the low-life loser who ran into them? She'll probably walk away from this too (meaning her previous transgressions have allowed her to be out free menacing society). Anyway, there but for the grace of God go any one of us. Same for the Angel who was killed: some driver gets pissed, and he takes us out. We must all be crazy to take on these risks.... :(

Thanks for the clarification. I guess my TV Land education about how the justice system works is worth what I paid for it.

Thankfully, BMW has thought of that.
Yup, BMW has certainly a bunch of future options they are working on, and Mercedes has been working on similar systems for a while as well. Plus their E and S class already have the option of automatic braking via sensor input today. I am thinking of software bugs in early systems...scary.

I can see all of us in twenty to thirty years in cars similar to the nice Audi Will Smith drives in I Robot, with the passenger getting all upset when we choose to override the automatic driving feature... :p and probably still getting pissed at other drivers "stupid car computer settings" or some such. But just maybe MC riders would be off a lot safer?

While in Berkeley in the early seventies, I developed an innate suspicion of the Alameda County Sheriffs and other Alameda County authorities. That said, in this instance, all I have to say is "Right on, Blue Meanies!"

I wonder if it has anything to do with this
"It was all about who would be allowed to hang out at the Starbucks downtown," Santa Cruz Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark said. "The Vagos brazenly came in and tried to cement their presence. It was a pretty strong play on their part to establish themselves as the premiere club."

He added: "Only in Santa Cruz would you have biker wars over who's going to control pumpkin spice lattes."

Yeah, this is why I rarely want to meet for motorcycle rides in front of a Starbuck's.

Some of you won't like this, but couldn't they have charged any other driver's with the same thing? There are numerous instances of this throughout the country. To pick this guy is rather interesting to say the least. I don't think of H.A.s as a victims considering what they do to society.
